Well, my official entry to this thread is 46 mph with just me and my Dad in the boat. Wish it was faster but only getting about 6800RPMS. Maybe more one day.

Its not official without a gps pic. Im hoping to get the boat out this week. I will see what I can do.

i still have you all crushed with a documented 78mph. i'll post a picture of the speeding ticket if you require proof and i was going UPHILL at the time

I saw 54 mph today on GPS but only have a photo at 50mph, its hard to take a pic by yourself that fast on this small lake ...

Here yah go ... tough to see I know ...

BTW has to be photo of GPS, my gps read 50-54mph .. but dash was showing over 60mph.

I believe you take the cake! thats a true GPS reading..

I don't have pics and won't be back on the water for two weeks, however when I checked my 2009 180SE 255HP with GPS this spring, just me and a full tank of gas, speedo reads 90-95kph but GPS reads 80-85 at 8000 rpm. 50MPH plus, give or take. Next time I will use MPH on my GPS.
I find this too fast, if there is any chop (and there always is) so only leave it at WOT for a few seconds at a time. It really cruises nicely at
5500-6500 rpm 30-35 MPH

Yah well at least you got a pic up .... the speedo's on these are way out though for sure. When my gps read 54 which it did, and I'll get a pic of it someday. My dash was showing like 66mph ...

My GPS logs show me going far slower. They must be wrong though cause I KNOW I'm going real fast :driving:

I'm hoping to get a better photo of my GPS. But a got a chance to get a pass in with the GPS and camera. Needless to say, the GPS is very hard to read, but the speedo is clear. It's going to have to be one or the other.

I want to say it read 49.0mph. That or 45mph. 45 would be a better guess as these speedos are almost all about 5mph off. I saw 52 on the in dash dreamometer this past week in our X-20.

This thread is perfect........
I just got my (new to me) 98 speedster up and running...( hillbilly tune-up on the water).... I got it clocked at 47 MPH with 300 Lbs of people and a full tank of gas....................
.How fast can the 98 speedster go ?

It's just a claim without the photo. Nobody knows how fast it will go without the GPS photo.

I think he is asking a question....I have seen 53-54 before on really smooth water with just me and less than 1/4 tank of fuel. Normally loaded 51-52.

do wave runners count ? my 97 seadoo xp got past 70 today .. i found out the motor is worked to no end

not gonna lie i race but i was scared of it lol

I see you're a photobucket user., nice!

Is that the actual Garmin Marine unit? or did you just buy the $115 download file? If you didn't *buy* it., can you pm where? I've been struggling to find a solution myself .

I need a new Lt Engine throttle Cable, and I'm told even my Right Engine isn't operating at optimal., I've been getting 45mpg ~6800rpm (Rt) and 4700 (Left) engines so far. Heck even with a half tank and four adults., it was doing 42'ish. When I get the marine maps installed on my garmin I'll post pics.

Help please if you can refer me to a parts supplier for these cables. Oh I also need the fwd/rev one.

Welcome to the forum .. nice boat btw  That's just a garmin unit I use in my truck. You can just press on the speedo and it will give you a full screen speedometer. You'll have to scour kijiji and ebay for parts or call a brp dealer or order right off this page PARTS (top right). Read up on some posts on the 787 engine as well as servicing your rave valves and carbs. This site has TONS of great info that can save you time and money.

LOL...I didn't know that.

Thanks!

Beautiful Avatar btw.

Anybody else notice the "moving average" speed of over 80 mph in that photo? How's that work!!?? You gotta trailer it at pretty high speed to get an AVERAGE of over 80!

LOL!!! I was doubting if my 255w would do it, but Lo and Behold it does! Very nice layout ftw!

Can't wait to get my boat back (with as LITTLE repairs as need be :( ) to test it out.

I'm a DAY away from overnighting my cables to a fab place for replacements. If I can get just ONE premium boating excursion this season with everything all tuned and ready to go...it'll all be worth it. Who'm I kidding., the last 10hours of boating have already been WELL worth the jump to being a Speedster owner :).

Glad you like it ... She'll likely need a little bit a work but once you get it runnin' good even 4tec guys get jealous trust me. Just had some fun this past weekend with a 4tec speedster.

Not the fastest, but plenty for me...
