GTX won't start or beep with key

So I got my first seadoo last week, a 1997 GTX. It won't beep or start with the lanyard. The gauges will come on when I press the start button. It will beep when I push the start button a short beep and a long beep. But when I put the lanyard on and off nothing happens with the original key and with a new unprogrammed key. I checked all the grounds, they looked good but I cleaned them anyways, I checked both fuses in the front and the one in the back and they were all good, but I cleaned the contact points anyways. I tested the dess post with a ohm meter and it tested good. I cleaned the post and the key real good. Also, the battery is brand new and fully charged. At this point I don't know where to go with it. Thanks in advance for some help with this thing!

I'm thinking you need a new DESS post and check the wiring. Here's a link that explains it's operation.

Yep... sounds like you need a new post. The little magnetic switch in side them does go bad.
