RESTO My Carbon Fiber X4's

Well no coupler trouble here because they are welded together. I'll play with the jetting a little and add water injection if needed. This is just a rec rider so I don't need every bit of performance it just needs to run perfect and beyond what a stock one can. I've made a 61mph ski with one before but I had a pump extension and 46mm Buckshots.

Gotcha. That's about what we were digging out of those back in the nineties. The Factory's pipe spin another 300 rp.m. and runs in the 64 mile an hour range. I actually like that Neptune pipe even better

Hey speaking of pump extensions and Long Drive Lines. Like the 21 inch version that came in the 95 limited boat. Having now gone through four of those , they come up bent after about 5 hours , I finally found one that works. The SBT version. I just happened to notice it's about 20% thicker in diameter.

I'm not happy with it. The engine runs a little smoother with the OEM valve but still is far less then perfect. On the first run I get 7K but then 6500-6600 after that. I guess that pipe is heating up and loosing rpm. I can try to up the water jet to the pipe but I don't want to change too many things at one time.

I decided the tall pitch of the impeller and the tight steering nozzle was cramping my style a little. When I pulled the Solas pump I found the center hub and the wear ring had slid forward. I put a stock brass pump on with a normal Solas XO(16.6X23.5) and R&D 85/88mm nozzles. I'm gonna get a test ride in tomorrow.

Today's test ride only maxed out at 55. It was cut short when I lost all steering. Tuns out the bolts on the nozzle and trim ring were only finger tight. One bolt fell out and allowed the nozzle to fall off. Luckily the steering cable was attached.

Here it is now....

Yeah I may have done that a few times. Hahaha looks like those trim tabs are homemade? Heck a stock 96 XP goes 57 miles an hour

good reading

Yes my trim tabs are home made normal ones are too thick on this aftermarket hull.

It liked this pump and nozzle set better. I also advanced the timing another degree and enlarged the stinger jet from 160 to 182.5. Now it revs up to it's potential every time, unfortunately it's potential seems to be 7K ish. The rpm reding seems to jump around a little so I'm going to bring a TTO next time to check against the Hot Tach and make sure I'm getting an accurate read.

It's now a great running ski but I seem to have leaky needle and seats because the restarts are not instant as they should be. I checked compression and it's low so I'm gonna work on the top end sometime. I used it because I liked the cylinder porting but it was a little more tired then I thought.

I'm gonna try a couple more things before this weekend's ride to pick some more speed up but it's getting respectable

I just got in from my last tuning session before an upcoming ride. At first I filed out another set of flame arrestor adapters because my carbs are bored to 50mm on top and these adapters were 48.5mm. That didn't make a huge difference but it helped me feel better.

Then I tried this Ultrac nozzle set but lost a couple mph.

Next I tried a wedge with my R&D nozzle set and gained a little.

I used the TTO tach because my Racepak is not steady. I turned the high speeds in in small increments and kept gaining rpm. The rear plug was white so I opened that high speed needle. I was getting 7100 rpm and 60.5 but getting low on fuel.

Is that the setup you think you will keep it at for the upcoming ride? It's no slouch that is for sure!

Yeah it's time for me to think about gas cans and wetsuits and whatnot. Tomorrow is my last day to pack.

I can't wait to see this carbon x4. I'm bringing my shorty Seadoo wet suit. I'm riding rain or shine haha

It's time for me to check in again. That first ride went well and I just got back from another ride a couple weeks ago. It made a 72 mile run with my friend on it and all is fine. After that everyone took a turn giving it a go and I think all were impressed.

I've added a little water flow to the carbon fiber waterbox to help keep the noise down a little bit. I've also swapped the silver UMI angle throttle trigger for a purple one so my whole steering setup is billet purple now. When I saw these new ODI lock on grips in orange and yellow I couldn't resist.

The biggest news is that I found another Jettrim air induction seat. The pattern and the original condition are amazing. I lucked out and the purple swoop fits my graphics pretty good.

I moved my reg #'s up front. I had a game warden at the boat ramp "suggest" it. I don't think it came out too bad.

Looks killer! What's the story with the 97 next to it? I don't think I've seen you post about that one before

Nice grips and I love those seats. What's that make 3 total of those seats in the museum (garage). I would also like to say thanks for letting me ride That dream ski. I would like to shoot for my skis to run even close to as good as yours . First I have to stop blowing them up!!!!

We all have blown them up. And it sucks when it happens just have to learn from it

Quick interuption guys.. took me 2 years but I finally tracked down all the molds for ATM carbon parts. I may be in biz rebuilding hoods and hulls for X4. CEC Cramer Engineering Composites

Sounds very good! Hit me up when your ready to make one for me.

Did Christmas just come a month early this year?
Sounds like Santa is bringing carbon fiber.
