Hi, I am new to the forum and just bought a brand new 2011 180SE Challenger. The mileage is still under 2 hours by the way and when i took it out last week at half throttle (30mph) during cornering, the speed started to decrease....is this normal for a jetboat?

Please help :(

yes its normal, in a turn your pump loses some of its water supply, thus decressing the strength of your propulsion jet, thus your loss in speed.

There is also way more drag on the boat when you are in a corner. Think of it as being less streamlined when turning as opposed to going straight through the water. Cars bleed speed in corners too.

Sink beat me to it,,, it mostly has to do with the drag.
When you are going straight, the more boat out of the water the faster you will go. As you turn, you force more of the hull back into the water. Hence the drag,,,
