Hello,

I have done a search, but wanted some more input on which battery is the best for the above ski.. the previous owner uses this one:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-Battery-ES16CLB/16795225

However he said he bought it 3 months ago, I charged it over night on Sunday, and I tried using it today, and it says its low?
I brought it over to a battery tester at Sams Club, and it says "needs recharge"?

Wal-mart batteries are crap. I've seen a bunch of them that were bad out of the box.

You can get a Die-hard from K-mart and save a few $$$. If you are looking to just get going... you can get the wet version for about $59.

It has a 3 month exchange program. Who knows who made it for Wallymart

Buy the one with the most CCA (cold cranking amps). Go to Sears, auto parts store, Battery Plus, or whatever to get a good one

AGM sealed batteries work best with no spill.

I read here those Walmart ones are hit or miss

:agree: I went the walmart battery route for 2 years (new battery each year) before I wised up and spent the extra $20 for a reliable battery. With the walmart battery, more often than not, I would go to take a ride and the battery needed a charge before it would start. DO NOT BUY A WALMART BATTERY.

I vote for the AGM sealed battery, got mine at AutoZone.

Alot of the sealed batteries are shorter and come with a stand for it to sit on...if you are rough at all it will get loose. The oddessey batteries dont fit the tray well either.

My modified battery strap is actually a snowboard binding strap...so I can adjust it to hold any size battery.

If you can find interstate batteries...they seem to hold up very well.

here's my .02

drive to your local batteries+ store, get an x2 battery
spend either about $115 for a 1 yr sealed agm,
or $140ish for a 2 yr,
end of story, you have a LOCAL warranty, where you can replace it easy,

and honestly, if you keep a tender on it (night b4 the ride) (battery tender jr is like 27 bucks at the same store) you'll never have to think about your battery again, a small price to pay to avoid ur dam battery ruining a day of fun.

in CA, can you ride year round? here in PA batteries usually last 1 season, 2 if your lucky and pray to the voltage gods (totally different than the horsepower gods)....

batteries don't like not being used. I usually order online at advance auto, and use code "P20" at checkout for 20% off.

hmm, this is interesting. I bought 2 batteries from Advanced Auto last year ETX16L Extreme Magna Power AGM Sealed battery 325 CCA. I think they were like $90.00. I had them load tested before I left the store and they actually tested at like 375 CCA.

anyway, i just looked at the Advanced auto website and ETX16L is now showing as a 275 CCA battery for $84. It does not say Extreme. They must have switched things around. anybody know?

Sqrl, what did you pay online with the 20% discount? do you have to pay shipping then or can you order online for store pickup? do uou know which part# and CCA you got?

Jake...I bet they go back and forth depending on their suppliers. I have both types sitting in my garage from parts skis...

wouldn't , or shouldn't you prefer to have a LOCAL warranty?
so if the battery goes bad you don't have a week or two delay while you wait for them to test/ship a new one ?

you buy online with the 20% off, then pickup in store. you can also return your old battery to get the core charge back ($10 I think).

Same as walking into store and buying it, but with 20% off! I use P20 on everything. Picked up 10 NGKBR8ES plugs at 20% off.

(10 come to a pack)... and for my... 4 engines... 3 that need broken in... I'm sure I'll use close to all 10 this season. Plugs are cheap insurance for a good day on the water.

thanks, good to know, I buy most my stuff at Advanced.

Best battery is the batterys PLUS two year battery. They have 325 CCAmps.. The walmarts are like 240 at best... They cost $110 with tax but they almost always have a mail in rebate of 10-$20.. if you have a problem they replace it no problem..

ok, thats cool, i might order a 10pack myself, i think I have two new ones left but somebody is always borrowing one :)

I've been doing some searching also and came across the Yuasa brand as the OEM.
The YB CL16B 77$ shipped (has the water)
and YTX 20HL-BS PW 96 shipped (sealed maint free).

My local RV store sells them for 129ish.

hope you dont ride your ski hard Griz...or at least used some wood to wedge the battery into the tray. Mine used to find its way out of the holder all the time...even with plexiglass wedges to fill all the extra space.

I have had a few and had horrible luck with them. I've heard many say they got tons of years...Ive never gotten more than 2. To tell you the truth this will be my 4th year on a $25 generic ebay battery...I bought two at the time and one died last summer.

Your right batteries don't like not being used that's why you use 1 of these and your batteries will last alot longer. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-022-0148-DL-WH-12-Volt-Management/dp/B000CIPHUI . One of our maintenance free batteries is on it's sixth year
