Spraying it down the carb would be the same as you taking a shower when you have cancer. It may make you feel better, but it won't cure the issue.

hahaha, got a kick out of that.

I've never owned a GTX but the 787s in the X4 hulls are really easy to take the top end off with the ski in the hull. Shouldnt take you long at all. Take some detailed pictures and post back

You said you never went through the carbs because it was running well. Well, you might have accumulated a bunch of crud in your carb's internal filter. I run an inline filter after the water separator because of how much junk I've found in those internal filters over the years. It doesn't seem to affect performance any, but does keep those little filters clean. They have been known to starve carbs before...

As for pulling the head, it's easy. Disconnect the three hoses from the head and the 12 bolts on top and voila. I just hope the guy who pulled that head last put grease on the bolt shanks like he was supposed to. I've had bolts snap from the built up corrosion on the shanks.

Now that I know that I can do it without pulling the engine out, this will be done sooner than later! Thanks guys!

You can even do the whole top end without pulling the engine. It's a bit of a pita, but saves you having to align it again. Hardest part is getting the wrist pin clips in. Make sure you put in the one that will be harder to push into place before putting on the piston. Also, dip the pin in oil first and you can easily slide it into the piston without any tools ;)
