So I made the dumb mistake of hooking up the ignition coil ground to the positive terminal of the battery, I fried 2 ignition coils doing this before I realized what I had done

I have a new ignition coil now, new boots and new plugs, ski powers up and turns over, but no spark, it worked last season

does anyone know exactly what I could have damaged? the CDI? the stator? the voltage regulator rectifier?

I was going to suggest the CDI. I think that is where the spark comes from on 787s that use them. I played musica lMPEM and CDI swaps a while back. I should have documented all the data I gathered. LOL I'd do a check on the Stator and ignition pick up just to be sure. The reverse voltage could have taken out the rectifier as well.

If you still have problems after replacing the CDI follow the black wires back to the MPEM and whatever else. Good Luck !
