Blow your ski out with lots of fresh air to dry it out for winter storage.

What the hell were you thinking?!

Yea, it's a bit early in the 'season' to winterize, but my wife and I have already burnt TEN gallons of XPS-II oil this season.

So, I've winterized all 3 and am drying them out for storage.

After a day or two the inside of the XP is BONE dry... then to coat the metal parts with spray oil for the winter. (other stuff was done too, but I'm not listing it as most people can look it up.

Heck... I don't think I've burnt a gallon this year. Between the boat project... and normal family crap... I've only been out on the skis a few times.

I was thinking about winterizing... but I'm hoping to get one more ride.

the XP is now 99% dry if not 100, but I checked the seal to the VTS, and water was just in the seal, not in the unit, but the seal was banged up with sand and crap in it, so I ordered a new one... once that's in I'll cover these guys for winter :(

Damn you florida people... lol. I can't imagine how much oil / gas I'd burn if I could ride year round...

10 gallons @ 40:1 = 400 gallons of fuel. $1,600 in gas for the season... Maybe next season I'll keep track.

I wanted to end the season on a high note. All of my skis run amazingly well.

Now to find a blown 951 ski worth fixing w/trailer... c'mon people, sell me a ski!

Heck it's 80 right now in Philly. I'm trying to get my 96 XP done, probably a few more weeks, if all goes well I'll be on the water this season. I don't care if is late in November. Just got the engine together, hope to pressure test tonight, paint it tomorrow, tig new plugs on the main pipe, buy more parts, cover seat. Oh yeah, and put it all together and pray the electronics work. I got temporary registration burning a hole in my work bench! Hope to get out in the Speedster this weekend if possible. To early for me to winterize, but I can see your point after all that expense.

winterizing ?
i've heard about that. But i've never done it once :)

I grew up in SoCal.... this winterizing my toys SUCKS !!!!! Winter out there was the month or two (Jan/Feb) that you just didn't feel like going out. (because it was in the 60's)

yeah florida is kinda nice our winter is pretty much over and summer is about to start

OLD PEOPLE COME ON DOWN!

let the bad drivers cometh!

I got the boat out a whole 4 times this year. Put about 5 hours on it. sadly, I think ill just go ahead and winterize it sometime soon too.

mine have sat now for about 2 weeks ...its only been about 65 or so during the day with wind..and since its been going down to around 35-40 at night the water is a wee bit cold to ride....we have wet suits and we DEFINETLY USE THEM..... we ride till the water is frozen so i usually am the last of my group to winterize..... guess im the only one stupid enough to ride when there are small ice chucks floating by

brock, have you considered naming your ski The Titanic?

I'm probably done for the season too, the 10 day forecast is 60's and low 70's

I'm in central New York, rode this afternoon. I think this was probably the last time, weather outlook is not that good for the next couple of weeks.:(

It was in the mid 80's here today, I haven't even thought about winterizing. Last year we rode until the end of Oct. and I am hoping to do the same thing this year, keeping my fingers crossed. I'll think about winterizing in November.

I've got a tip on drying our your ski, I got the idea from the Doc., the last time you ride your ski after you put it on the trailer remove the seat for the ride home.

That's a good idea, but won't work on the rodents ski since its an xp with the suspension seat.

Nope, I hear ya. My wife and I are troopers too. I was hoping to get out once on my new xp engine, still waiting on it from my repair shop and I still have to slap in the engine. :banghead: Thinking of taking my other two out this weekend. Usually have to call it quits when it starts freezing at night though. winter sucks....

Unfortuntely, I'm with you on that one. I burned a little less than a gallon this season. Breaking my hand at the beginning of June screwed everything up. Atleast I got some serious air doing it :lols:. I rushed the healing and ended up refracturing it in a different so its just now starting to get better again. Hopefully I can get one more easy ride in before I have to winterize as well.

ill be goin to havasu for atleast day trips till late nov, then its dirtbike season,

Yep... back home.... the middle of winter meant we could start riding at Glamis. But in SoCal... all year was "Dirt Bike" season. Glamis in the winter.... High Desert fall/Spring... and the Mountains during the summer. (That would keep us in the 75~80 degree range all year)

Winter pretty much sucks here. Too cold to go to the lake and too warm for winter sports. That's why I try to extend the PWC season and also why I'm looking for a winter project.
