So here is my thinking to pull every gasket out in the rear and replace gaskets anywhere where water could be penetrating. Does anyone here know what all gaskets I will need or is there some type of breakdown listed somewhere on here? Any thoughts on what im getting ready to do seeing as how Ive never messed with jetskis much? Thanks my name is Courtney by the way...

Well if its coming in right where the driveshaft goes thru the hull replacing gaskets isnt going to do it.

Its the carbon ring around the driveshaft, and the stainless collar on the driveshaft. Look for major or angled wear on the carbon ring. If it isnt too bad I usually rotate it to wear the opposite way.

Alot of times it just needs a little more pressure between the two points. Just loosen the accordion rubber boot and push it towards the engine to apply more pressure.

The best way to figure out where water is coming in is leave it strapped to the trailer and put it in the water...then look!

Now...on the Orings...yes there are all sorts of rubber gaskets that get dryrotted and crack. Many times you can just tighten them up and no more leak.

On your machine you can tighten the nut on the exhaust outlet...Ive seen those pretty loose.

You guys are awsome for the quick response.... I called a local seadoo dealer because I read where another guy on here had a similar issue. I spoke straight with the mechanic supposivly lol and he told me hes never heard of a carbon ring lmao... I thought well im deff not taking it to you. He started off the conversation with well just bring it in and check the compression first and if its no good its not worth working on I was thinkin WTF?? Never once did I tell him it ran bad. Thats when I thought I have to figure this out myself lol.. He told me via phone theres only like three gaskets it could be which I assume he is wrong there as well.

WOW,,, Never,,, I repeat, NEVER take your ski to that dealer...

I appreciate you detailed response you probably saved me alot of time..... How can I see the carbon ring to see if its bad or not is it under that accordian boot?

Ill be honest with you Im not sure the exact place where its coming in looked like near that accordian boot. It seemed like it was leaking with it running or not running not real sure though. All I know is that it takes on alot the last time I rode it the hull was a quarter of the way full after about two hours out.

Yeah its hiding under that Grey pto cover. Take that off and check it out.

And I always say if you call a place and they won't help you on the phone just tell you to bring it in.... Don't ever go there. What a joke!

I am glad you are fixing the leak. You have to be careful, ingesting water causes all sorts of headaches!

Keep us in the loop on your findings and fixes. We can talk you through almost anything!

Water leaks work both ways. Put the drain plugs in. Fill the hull inside with water slowly, with the ski slanted back.

*on the trailer on land.

Generally that is true. If it leaks in it will leak out. However, in some cases that is not the case. It has to do with hull displacement and the additional pressure put on parts of the hull because of the displacement.

For example, a 47 foot boot that is 15 foot wide normally displaces 330,000 gallons if water. As you can imagine, if there was a small leak from out to in, it would leak due to the displaced pressure. In the case of the same boat you can't fit 330,00 gallons of water and it may not leak from in to out.

In most cases, our skis will leak from out to in but not always. Especially if the leak is such that you can't get enough water into the hull without damage to the engine before making it leak or maybe even getting high enough to reach the leak.

that is all correct, it's simply a test that shouldn't take more than 20 min, in your driveway, under controlled conditions.
