What's the word bird????? I'm sitting on my tracings, I want to get them to Mike. Get some good pics and post them up. Don't mean to crack the whip but I'm ready to ship them out to the best source to finish the lower portion, it's either you or Nelson and he's getting ready to work his summer away.....

I really only need up front on the rear decals down in the foot wells--both sides. Close ups would be great, not so far back if it's possible.

Straight on if you can, I want to see how bad the bottom of the very front it. My pics were just to show where I was looking. Consider it a straight on portrait pic is what I'm looking for. From like mid decal forward, bottom edge Posting a pic in a minute.

Racer - did you get tracings of the bottom of the decals? I have 3 95 800s... one of them has faded, but complete decals. I have a very artistic wife with time to spare... if you still need tracings, we can help. I'll be buying a couple of sets of these from Mike as well, so I'm committed to the cause.

Sent the tracings to Falklandsx today to finalize. I have been stock piling parts. Just scored some really nice goodies in the last few days. I need a few more things for the engine and I'll be building that. Bottom of the hull is wetsanded and going to meet the buffer here in a few minutes. I got so much stuff going on right now it's crazy. Thanks for asking.
Here's a little teaser of the bottom of the ski. I thought I finished wetsanding already but I forgot I had to hit it with the 1200. So here is a quick buff with some heavy cut. Love that I can see the garage door windows and my overhead lights, you can actually see the barcode labels on the bulbs at the end of the lights.

Did you do any gelcoat repair? I do not see one scratch, or was the hull pretty clean when you got it.
The hull isn't too bad. There are a few gouges and a fair amount of scratches on the keel but not too deep. I would spend days chasing my ass on them there are that many little ones. I'm not going to do it as much as I want to but I know it won't match. So I'd rather polish the scratches then have hundreds of little off color stripes that drive me nuts. I'd love to know how they originally did the two tone gel coat cause the lines are laser straight and at the exact same level. The deck is just about flawless so I'll spend the most time wetsanding that. What's really weird is the pink gel, the wool pad and heavy cut makes it look horrible (white) but a foam pad and hull color restorer makes it look great. So two different applications for the different colors. I was really getting nervous that it wouldn't come back. I'm thinking of hitting Harbor and getting the Porter Cable knock off random orbital polisher, it got some pretty good reviews on there. Plus it's on sale right now for $58 and the porter is over $100+. I gotta keep this thing on the cheap, I have literally been scrapping metal to fund this project. I'm getting into the heavy iron now I have about 20+ car/truck engines to scrap and a bunch of cast iron pipe.

That is weird about the pink fading, glad to hear you foumd something to bring it back. If you get the DA do not forget your 20% off coupon to bring it down to about $46. On that crank did you find a NOS one or did you find someone to rebuild it? I am sure the teaser shots will pale in comparison to what is coming. Those shots make me want to go wet sand that roached out 93 we are working on.
Whats scrap on iron at around you? It got up to around $200 a ton a couple years ago but is way down now, i think 120ish

I follow Jetskigoodies formula for the buffing and materials. He has a thread on here about the process. But to bring the pink back I used Meguiars Color Restorer #44 and a foam pad on my Harbor freight 7" buffer.
Here is the before's kinda since I had already hit this real quick with the wool pad. But the pink was a flat white-ish pink and I honestly thought it wasn't gonna get better. If you look at the first pic, that white is not compound, that is the fade on the hull. The pink on these skis is actually metallic which I tried to capture, so fixing the gel coat would be darn near impossible unless you did a full recoat. You can see that it will come back but I don't expect it to be like the yellow, it even sands different from the yellow.
Yeah, without the 20% it's still a bit pricey for me. On the crank, it's an OEM unit. I had called a few places to rebuild mine, a sled guy up out your way was going to do but really knocked on the OEM units and when I asked which bearings and rods they used he said WSM and I didn't want to go that way and was asking if I could supply OEM bearings etc.... and would he do it and basically he said no in a round about way. I like the OEM bearings, I know the longevity and hate to mess with a good thing.
Now to the scrap, for light iron I get $9.25 per 100# I got $155.40 for 1680# So, right now for a ton I'd be $15 off your 200 mark. Heck about 2 years ago scrap cars were bringing $400+ depending on the weight, we have a few dozen old ghetto cruisers at the parents farm the old man scrapped and he made some good coin. I scrapped an 87 F-150 4X4 that I bought for $200 and got $450 out of it for loading it on a car trailer. Scrap is easy money when you have scrap. I can't wait to see what the heavy iron (cast) brings, I think it's over $15 per 100. Now if we scrap a car you either have to have the title or bring it in two pieces, and not the same 2 pieces at the same time. A lot of guys down in Philly were just hooking cars off the street and scrapping them, LOL. These were peoples daily transportation too.
