i'm drawing a blank here what its called, but what is the thing that you attach to the bow eye hook on the front of a pwc so you can hook the winch hook or a tow hook to ?

I need to buy a couple of them since the winch straps that came on a trailer don't have the extra loop and of course the winch hooks don't fit either.

But my brain is on standby and I can't figure out what the dam things are called so I can shop for them :)

no ususally its just like a 6" or 8" loop thing that you loop thru the eye hook up front, and it stays there, permanently, and you hook the winch to that... just a simple circle/loop, but I can't figure out the dam name. i can make a ghetto one out of an old winch strap but these are two nice ski's I don't want a piece of dirty nylon hanging off the front.

matt, turn of Biden, you don't need that democrat nonsense ! but ya, the racers all have them too.

well if you figure it out, could you post a pic or the name, i'm curious now. all mine have grab hooks/carabiner that I just clip on there.

ok fine,, found the dam thing !!!

bow eye tow loop.

I think this is what i want !

It is required by the IJSBA, I know it's in the handbook I've just got to read it again.

At least take a listen, the Kenyan is next. I listened to the other side.

Ok, now that I have seen what it is ... and just saw the definition of "thingy" in scoopers jokes ....

Maybe because I have not finished my first cup of coffee today, but what is its purpose and why is it a requirement for racing?

the purpose is to loop the strap thru the eyelet on the ski so the metal hook is not scratching the hull.

When I do that, the ski only comes to with about 6-8 inches from the rubber bumper. I either put the hook thru the bow eyelet or wrap the bow strap several times so the ski stops at the bumper.

I always worried that the bow strap breaks then only the stern trailer tie down is holding the ski to the bunks.

Spim, this is what I always used on the PWC for the winch, then no need for 2 pieces or metal cables, unless that is what your looking for then I stand corrected...

yes, new winch straps (if I needed them) would solve that issue, frankly its 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other, either way i'm looking at about $10 each for two new winch straps or two tow hooks, but your right, maybe i'm over thinking this, and should just get two new straps and be done with it... granted the tow hook might come in handy some day if I need to get dragged back to the ramp but besides that a new strap with the loop probably is a practical fix and a cleaner install,,, thanks for the reminder, I might have just been overlooking the obvious here :) I had completely ignored the straps since they were in good shape and i'm trying to resolve the other part of the issue, but new straps can be had locally, no shipping and will definitely offer the solution.. (i certainly won't be racing a GTX)

i believe its a requirement for racing for safety/speed issues, if you need to get a ski out of the way quickly and easily then the guy can hook it up really fast and drag the ski off the course and back to shore.

I had a nice garage sale find. Brand new winch strap still in the package.... $1.00

well, maybe not so much an actual garage sale as much as someone just left their garage door open and I felt obligated to leave them a dollar.:reddevil:
