the box i have is the same as in the picture tim posted.,i need all the other pieces in his picture.plus the reed assemblies,of course.
uhhh, what the hell is the "diaper" for?i think i read that its for a possible leak, but where does it go?
tim ,could you post a picture of yours please?
btw,one of the problems im hoping to solve is a run away, when started out of the water.( vac leak,or wrong jetting, right?)
i can't post a pic, ski is in the middle of being built as we speak, but 951 pics are everywhere.
the diaper goes on the bottom middle of the pic, you should be able to see it, its fairly obvious how this goes on, the flaps will make you scratch your head trying to figure it out. you'll swear you have the wrong parts, then the light will come on and you'll be "oh ya..... duh....." and it will slip right on.
so the diaper goes right were the manifold meets the pipe. it keeps water from spraying out the exhaust pipe manifold gasket and allows it to drain down below between the carbs (i think hehe), because it always seemed silly to me but if the engineers thought it was important then i'm keeping it. I think they changed the gasket after the first year too. (duly noted I understand the purpose of the diaper about as well as I do the baffle on the x4 hulls)
the flaps are actually very important...to redirect any water away and over the top, correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think the first 951's came with them, (or maybe it was no diaper first year), they were added the 2nd year to correct issues with water getting down into the carbs. (really really bad for a 951) I will say this, at least 60% of the ski's I see come in are missing the flaps and the diaper, or at least some parts are missing, granted this is only a few ski's but others may confirm, its quite common for these to be missing. I believe the people that have them missing had this issue:
then they moved on...
duly noted: if you rejetted when you put on the proks, you'll have to pull the carbs and rejet again, maybe you posted that early in the thread, I forget.
the bottom line, if your going back to stock, just make sure you have everything, otherwise, your just tempting fate.
