Hi
I have a question regarding 97 seadoo speedster. The GREASE boot for the spline shaft that faces toward the PTO keep ripping off on both motors. :ack:Replaced little rubbers on shaft ends, tie wrapped the grease boot which use to have metal straps instead. I've done this twice already but the boots keep ripping. I don't know why. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong. I even am assembling with the picture of the diagram infront of me. but they're still ripping? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Over greasing..

It sounds like you've pumped to much grease inside the zirc fitting of the shaft. When you grease this fitting, you should put no more than a pump of two off the gun. If you over grease and some comes out and falls into that boot, then it'll be off balanced when you start the engine up. At high rpm, you'll eventually destroy that boot.

I'm not there to see this first hand, but if the boot is apart and you can look inside it, see the remnants of grease, then that is your problem. That boot is a dust cover, not a cover to put grease in.
