I'm digging the yellow inserts. I might have to try and hunt some down

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Today we mostly worked on another project but I did fix the wires that were cut and crimped back to togethor by the last owner. These wires are hard wired into the mpem plug. I plan on replacing the start stop to and that is hard wired as well. I will just use a weatherpack plug like this.

Also traced the xp decal. I am going to cut xp 2 decals one grey carbon fiber and one black carbon fiber and then lay one down and the other i will place it on top of the first but shifted over a little and angled to give it the shadowed effect. I will also be making a couple other decals too.

My seat cover came in. I ordered the mline cover for this. I actually liked the one they used for a stock photo. I had them remove the mline logo.

Nope no decals, but the seat cover does not match at all. I contacted them to see if I can swap the yellow out for a charcoal carbon fiber. The yellow is too orange

The rest of the cover is great, if I can get those yellow panels gone I will love it.

Well mline said they would switch it out for me. So the seat cover should be back soon.

Today we painted the motor

Nope no write up. I just clean it really well with degreaser, then sand it down with 220, i make sure all knicks are smoothed out and all the surface is scuffed, then wipe it down with acetone. It takes longer cleaning it up then it does painting it.

I did 3 coats of primer, 2 coats of silver, 3 coats of the blue, then 3 coats of clear.

Also got my rub rails in today. I am a bit dissapointed

One of the yellow inserts is knicked up pretty bad. The main thing is the outers were coiled up and have horrible creases. I was able to stick them in front of the heater and get some out. I think I will have a hard time getting them straight. And for $75 I do not think I should have to do that. There are new inners for $40 on ebay. I should have bought those and outers from Minnetonka4me oh well you live and learn right.

That yellow will straighten out and clean up really nice with lacquer thinner. Unfortunately, there isn't a really good way to ship the actual rails. Perhaps a less severe radius but that is just awkward to ship. I guess no GTX's around?

Yes they are a pita unless you use a huge box like for a Tv.
