I am sorry for your loss but this is what we try to prevent here when we tell all new owners to service the fuel system completely when you get a new to you ski, especially one that has been sitting.

Some listen and some decide to ride it ans see what happens.

Your only way out now is a full rebuild with crank, new pistons and a bore.

You can send it out or we can help you DIY but there is no cheap fix.

I would assume this is a 720? No drain or fill plug. Only 1997+ 787 have them for the balancer shaft.

Ok, sorry just looked at the avatar.

The 1996 787 has the castings for the drain and fill but did not get installed until 1997. I think Jetskigoodies had a thread where he machined the cases for it but it looked like a lot of work. I was going to do my 1996 XP cases but decided not to due to the trouble and lack of machine shop.

A top end is (should be) out of the question at this point. You need to tear that engine completely down

Crank seems like it still good no freeplay in the rods cylinder walls show no marring. Do I really need to get a new crank.

The crank case per say does not have oil that needs to be changed and filled. The counter balance cavity on 97+ engines have a plug to siphon and refill with gear oil. The only time this is needed is if the engine has been sunk and ingested large amounts of water

If you pulled that water mix from the crank case, yes it needs to be broken down and at minimum inspected. You have a bunch of piston pieces unaccounted for as well

No clue... Water... Fuel... Water fuel mix.

It shouldn't be there. You can throw a top end on it, go ahead. But when you blow a hole in your cases you will be SOL

Yea going to split the cases. Going to order new bearing and seals, inspect the crank maybe send to to get checked. Dont want to buy one if I don't absolutely need one.

We are just trying to save you from a big headache down the road

You should take the time to find a new hull and put your fresh rebuild in it. There was a lot of detonation going on by the looks of the piston and head. Detonation damages the crankshaft it is probably way out of true. Seadoo engines aren't extremely complex but they do have close tolerances on the internals

Hang on. I am all for saving a ski, but think for a second. The motor is now toast. So is the hull. Look around and you can still find a running GTX in the $5-700 range with a decent hull. I would part out what you have left. Hang onto the MPEM, and pump and anything else you want for spares. Or sell the MPEM and pump to subsidize your clean up of your new ski. Look at my Shamu thread. I have a total of about $1200 in it and it is like new. Yes, my motor has about 200 hours on it, but it should last for many more with a great clean rebuilt fuel system.

Food for thought.... I hate it you killed the motor, but now there is not much sense sinking more time and money into this.
