If you want I'll try and merge your threads. I've never done it before but I'd love to break something tonight. Let me know if you want me to do it.

OK I merged the two threads. To keep it real easy. Post all your questions in this thread. It's in the hottest section of the forum---the 2 stroke section. Your ?'s will get answered here. We know your hot to trot you have a ton of threads cooking.

Not that that is out of the way, Party on Wayne!

Alright got the flame arrester off and bout to take off the carbs for cleaning does anyone have a good carb cleaning write up, or should I just go with what the shop manual says. Sometimes the shop manual is a lil confusing. Not enough pics lol. And is cleaning the carb tricky should I take it somewhere

Ok.stupid question I ordered a carb rebuild kit. What are the
Chances it comes with.everything.needed to rebuild both of the carbs or do I need to order two kits

It also won't have a needle and seat either. I wouldn't rebuild with out them. Oh, 1 per carb on them. You need to get the correct size to. It's stamped on the end on the seat, polish the outside bottom of the seat with steel wool.

So I got it running on the trailer, took it to the lake, started right up. Idled around for about ten mins smoked a lil (premixed gas just in case pump wasnt working, figured wouldnt hurt anything) then took her out to open water. Ran good for about ten mins then started to backfire , lil @ first then more once I tried to idle around again. Then it wouldnt idle anymore. Then it wouldn't start. So took it back home. Took the fuel line lose from the carbs while turning it over and fuel comes out do its getting fuel to the carbs,i think. Im hopeing that the carbs just got to much oil in it so I'm gonna rebuild them. Been awhile since they've been ran. Any ideas what may be going on?

You have to service the fuel system and the carbs. You can't really diagnose old carbs that haven't ran in who knows how long. I know it stinks but if parts dry out from sitting, ports clog etc.... it just compounds the problem unfortunately. Also, you probably want to do a compression test just to be sure. If one of the carbs was clogged and not allowing the proper amount of gas to the cylinder you could have leaned it out and damaged a cylinder from lack of fuel.

Im interested to hear if the missing front half of this ski that was repaired with spray foam held up

But as racer said you could have run lean. You can fry a piston in a matter of minutes

The spray foam held up pretty good lol. Gonna work on glassing it this weekend. Im pretty sure I can glass it well enough to last me until fall when I will swap the motor into a new hull.
Ill check the compression when I get off work tomorrow.

Post pictures of the piston, remove the head. If it's destroyed pieces of piston could be in the bottom end. If that is the case you will need to split the cases.

This is why you never run a 2 stroke without going through the fuel delivery system 100%

The cylinder is probably messed up a bit. Your not going to be able to just slap a piston In it most likely
