Sorry, another newb question...
How do I check / verify that the carbon ring seal and shaft thru the hull is adequate?
Obvioulsy taking on water on our maden voyage would be an indicator... I'd prefer to be 'pro-active' ;)

Put water in the hull (carefully) with the PWC up on the trailer and see if it leaks water? Then pull the drain plugs

Or.... just leave it tied down to the trailer and back it down the ramp into the water with the seat off, check for leaks.

I like that idea better, there will be more water pressure on the seal that way. Heck you could even start the ski and gas it a little and see how it holds under stress.

In my experience with inboard/outboard boat transom seals, option 2 is a more reliable test.

I've never had one fail.

Also, your info says 1996 ski's. are you sure you have the carbon rings? I know 96/7 was when they moved to them, I think?

Thanks ya'll.
No, I'm not certain they are carbon seals. On the learning curve right now....
I'll google but any good youtube links or other showing how the seal works?

I'm almost certain that all 96 models have the carbon seal, I could be wrong but it would be the first time this year (LOL).
