High hour numbers on 2 stroke

I was just seeing what's the highest hours you have seen or heard about on a 2 stroke seadoo that hasn't had a top end or bottom end job done to it.

1996 gtx with 325 hours never touched the carbs or motor just done normal ware and tear parts, have been replaced still runs strong I only use the brp oil 93 shell that has no ethanol and I use the ngk iridium plugs bought this ski new in march of 1996 still remember it like it was yesterday.

I have seen a couple with 350 hours or more

That's crazy you have never touched the carbs. We had ours rebuilt 4 times, had the fuel lines replaced twice since the first time they replaced them with new grey lines...ended up doing them myself this time around after i knew better lol.

We were paying shops to do the work...we just never got what we paid for basically. My parents owned the ski back then and would tow it into shops, they would take it out a week or two later and run into the same issues over and over. Its pretty insane the $$ they spent on repairs over the years. I ended up buying it from them and decided to turn the wrench myself since none of the shops seemed to care or do quality work. I have some nightmare stories you wouldn't even believe. Haha, i literally get angry just thinking about the stress surrounding this ski and repairs over the years. This time around I am doing it myself so at least I will know its my fault and/or learn on my own. This forum has been essential for restoring it and hopefully making it a reliable ski for this summer & future trips.

He has been running non ethanol fuel the whole time, as long a s ethanol is not run through those lines they don't go bad.

Oh good point. Yea I cant seem to find any non-ethanol fuel near the lake the ski is. Boo for ethanol

thats my buddy's seadoo and it's mint for 20 years old and 325 hours he did replace the grey fuel lines with black ones and bunch of other parts that go bad on these ski but when me and him did the fuel lines we where expecting to find everything gummed up but we found nothing at all that's why we never cleaned the carbs he has been thinkin about doing them just because it old but it starts up every year with no problem at all runs strong me and him work on them together but this is his oldest ski and he baby's it never sat out side or in the water for long periods of time. Just shows what taking care of something for a long time can end up looking like years later.

I have never had to clean the carbs probley because of the fuel good gas goes a long ways i have only replaced fuel lines ,wear ring, impeller ,carbon seal jet pump cone ,O rings , fuel filter oil filter , buzzer/alarm and the normal jet pump oil spark plugs battery's got new hydro turf just last year it never had padding all the way down just some slid stuff down so really was a huge upgrade but just at the end of last year my LCD center info gauge was starting to ripple sun damage it's very miner small area is there any thing a good product that some one knows about that can help?

Yeah the big thing with carbs is the different fuel lines, good fuel, and most importantly...using the damn thing!! Sitting is the worst.

My brother has over 300hr on his 99 SPX and has never had to open the motor up.

Don't think any product will help. You have to replace the film in the gauge. You can either buy a used gauge with good film or replace it. I think replacing it is easy. here is a thread. http://www.seadooforum.com/showthre...X-Info-Center-part-1&highlight=lcd+gauge+film As noted in the thread, I bought a sheet of the stuff and will sell enough to do a gauge for $10 shipped. It is $25 on ebay. PM me if you want to go that route. Otherwize, [MENTION=41828]Minnetonka4me[/MENTION] should be able to set you up with a gauge with good film.

I was thinking the same thing the other night when I first read the thread while I was about to go to sleep. I was actually too tired to post a question.
