Yo Tony, I've seen some pics of yuor garage/shop...very nice, with so many members' here, and being that they're here, is so they can fix there own skis, you ever thought about knocking out a few tools that are needed, since the "forum" dont sell any....impellor removal tool, for example?

I could make some of the tools needed, and I'm always willing to help, but things like the impeller removal tool would be too expensive for me to make. The splines on the shaft are put on by a process called broaching. I can get a rotary broaching tool for my lathe, but it's very expensive. (about $1400) So... to make back the money on the tool, I would need a commitment from a lot of people to cover my costs. And... since you can buy them off of eBay for about $15... it would be hard to justify the expense.

Now... something like a flywheel holder could be made out of aluminum easy and cheaply.

With that said... if anyone has an idea of something that they may need... post up, and I will see if it can be done.

didnt give the 'splines" a thought. I got a 787 flywheel removal tool, and the universal one..720,650..etc, if yuo need it for measurements, also i jerry rigged up a rotory valve assy removal tool, out of a front 787 motor mount...

McGyver vs. Charlie Brown!

I do my own stuff too. It took me 3 tries but finally came up with a design for me to build an arbor press that works more than 3 times. Unlike Charlie Brown up there who has to "jerry" rig (I think he meant jury rig). But down't worry Charlie Brown, just kick the football, I'll keep Lucy from pulling the ball back out from under your feet............:rofl::rofl:

Things like a RV shaft press... or a bearing/seal press for the pump would be easy and cheap to make.

Why are you guys even discussing making the impeller removal tool? They are a dime a dozen. I think I got mine off ebay for $15 or 20. WAY cheaper than the time and tools needed to make one.

Another cheap way to make them would be to take an old drive shaft, cut off the ends, and grind 2 flats on the shaft part that would fit a wrench of whatever size. I used vice grips the first time I removed the impeller.

Or am I misunderstanding the tool you are discussing?

I already said the impeller tool would be too expensive to make. A rotary broacher is about $1400... and that would only be good for one type of impeller.

What I'm saying would be cheap is an arbor to press the seals and bearings for the jet pump... and the arbor for the rotary valve shaft. They are just basic round lathe parts that can be produced quickly out of aluminum. (very cheap too)
