Cheap gas... Death of E85?

2.56 in northern burbs if Atlanta. But still 3.99 for non ethanol around the lake. I don't think it will stay this way for long, either.

The big players in ethanol production have their teeth firmly positioned. Even though it costs more per gallon to make that std gasoline, its not going anywhere & will help keep a floor in the pump prices. The good news in my area is "some" of the mom & pop gas stations are realizing the benefits of selling non ethanol premium. Im am not sure what it takes to be non conforming & sell this, but its happened at two locations. They advertise it with pump signage. What I like about that the most is it helps people to realize the E stuff is horsepoop :D

$3.97 a U.S. gallon, $1.05/litre here in Ontario for Regular. We are very happy with this price, we have been paying $4.80-$5.10 since March.

As far as the ethanol the cost of production is one thing, but what we seem to forget is it takes more fuel to produce the same amount of energy, which is another added cost to the price of using ethanol. As stated a hundred times before, it just doesn't make sense.

Indeed. I find it funny that places advertise real gas.

If I don't get the MPG on my window sticker can I sue because I can't buy real gas?

$2.58 for regular here, $3.07 for (probably stale) high octane. If we were concerned about improved emissions we could blend an isobutanol oxygenator that is stable, doesn't absorb water vapor and is refined directly from fossil fuels and natural gas, instead of "green" corn ethanol that requires spraying pesticides, soil erosion, environmental loads of creating renewable biomass such as deforestation of wildlife habitat, and we'd have a much better fuel.

Already, isobutanol is being formulated into motor fuels as an ethanol replacement:

"Gulf Racing Fuels will create three new fuels that will target marine uses and all-terrain vehicles (ATV). Each fuel will use a 16.1% isobutanol blend for delivering lower emissions and superior performance characteristics. These fuel blends are designed to meet EPA emission requirements for marine and off road engines without suffering from water solubility issues."

$2.52/$2.76 around Savannah Ga, and I am sure it will not last too long. Come summer vacation time it will rise again. Way back in the 80's I was told by an employee of Shell oil that the gas shortage was fake, they had ships anchored just outside the sound full of gas and diesel. They were not allowed to come in to port to unload, the oil companies had to send barges out to the ships to get a little at the time and bring back to the storage tanks to load in trucks for distribution to local service stations so they could claim gas shortage. I went to the beach here and looked out on the water and there were quite a few tankers anchored there.

Yes, but don't forget oil consumption has fallen off with more fuel efficient vehicles and the US now produces oil at a 30 year high, almost half of total US consumption no longer needs to be imported. This is making the $US stronger against foreign currencies and further pushing down the price of commodities right now.

Here in California we are at $2.79 for regular but if you want to start a rant then why the hell is diesel still $3.59?

$2.25 around here, wonder if situations overseas are affecting prices....

Yes, OPEC members can't agree. When prices fall they usually cut production. This time not. Don't mean to rain on your parade but it can go back up just as fast.

Diesel takes more crude to make it. But is a less refined product so cost to produce is lower.

Like it or not [and I hate the stuff] ethanol is here to stay. The tree huggers will never let it go even if it is proven to be worse for the climate and it is. In addition it has contributed to increased food costs. They want us to stop burning oil completely. Never mind the fact another country will burn it and produce much more polution than here. Think coal too. That industry is about shut down in the US. After all it is global warming not North America warming. Makes no sense to me.
