Beeper replacement

I've just tested my buzzer and it works. But when it's hooked up to my ski with lanyard switch I get no sound where do I go from here.?

Same thing for me....tested old one with battery and he screamed at me. On the ski, nothing.
I replaced it with a new one from Lloyd Bell....and everything worked. Radio shack beeper will work but won't fit into the OEM holder

So your suggestion is to replace it? I don't see how it wouldnt work on the ski if it worked fine on the battery

I don't get what you're saying to us. Radio Shack beepers are a bit larger, so you just carve out some foam. What does that have to do with it's operational capabilities?

So just for kicks I put a voltmeter on both of the skis to see what the difference would be for the one not beeping. I get 7v on that one. The other I get a momentary pulse and my digital meter only shows 2.1v before fading to 0.6v. Then, after putting that back together I tried the lanyard and now I can barely hear the beeps! What could that be about? And why 7v on the other?

I just replaced my buzzer on the weekend. The dealer wanted $100 for it.The guy at the parts counter was as suprised as I was to see a price like that.I decided to get one at The Source(Radio Shack in Canada). It cost me $6.99 and for .50 I got an extended warranty for 3 years.A bit of silicone to seal it up,2 hours of customizing and saved myself $93.It's also just as loud as the original..

Im in the same boat...it beeps only once in awhile for me...loud and clear when it does...most of the time it doesnt beep...

Is it time for a new one??? why does it beep only once in a while?

Some buzzers take a bit too long to start making noise. The short pulses from the ski aren't enough to make it sound. You can test this by connecting the buzzer to the battery briefly, for about the amount of time the pulses last. You'll notice you don't get much sound then. Any buzzers that don't say continuous tone and don't work with all voltages from 6 to 12 volts are likely to give you trouble. Also, any piezo sounders that need to be driven by a square wave will definitely not work.

Hey guys,

I found out that the Islandia has 2 buzzers. One is hooked into the "Mercury" part of the electronics... and the second is in the "Seadoo" side.

Well... I figured out that the Seadoo buzzer was bad... so I went to RadioShack to get a new one... and they have dropped the price to $6.99 !!!!!! So I got one for the Islandia, and an extra one to keep on the shelf.

The Floyd-Bell may be a good buzzer... but for $7, I'll keep using the RadioShack version.

What is the Radio Shack part number? Thanks:patriot:

I called it a speaker the first time I went in to get one. The poor guy behind the counter looked at me like I was nuts. He said, "we don't sell speakers." I laughed out loud and said "Radio....Shack. It's in the name. What radio does not have a speaker?" He got offended so I gave up and went to a different location where the guy actually showed me their inventory interface and helped me look it up, very helpful staff there.

Take the lead off of the temp. sensor and ground it, this will cause the alarm circuit to sound. If the buzzer doesn't work put the purple lead on the positive battery terminal, tan to negative, if the buzzer still doesn't sound, replace the buzzer.

Honestly I don't think it's that important for the how-to section, maybe make a sticky? It's such an easy fix, $8.00 at Radio Shack.

Actually I believe Tony made it a sticky at one time, but now I see it isn't.

Good info guys!!! I just wanna throw in my 2 cents here cause this thing was stumping me cause in my head I assumed the "pulse" was coming from the positive wire (purple with white tracer) and that was very wrong haha the ground wire is where the pulse comes from to trigger the beep..... maybe y'all already knew this, I couldn't figure out why I had constant power all the time at the positive side when I hooked my key on, I had assumed, like on a turn signal, that the ground was constant and the positive was the variable. I was afraid that something in the mpem was stuck like a bad relay or something. Then I got to thinkin outside the box a little and realized that I had come at it all wrong. So I just hooked up the radioshack beeper and it all good now!
