it isn't much as far as pic's, but here's some hammer finish (at least i'm 99% sure they all are, some of these pic's are older) I'm guessing back in the day, that we used hammer finish on probably 6-8 engines with great results, It still looked new on mine 3 seasons later. It coats Extremely well.

That dark grey or charcoal is a nice choice. It doesn't show dirt or oil easily like a leaky rave down the side of a bright color.

Waiting on the powder to show up, I'm guessing it should be here by Saturday or Monday at the latest. So hopefully my buddy with have the tuned pipe done mid week next week. In the mean time that will give me time to get the motor painted, got her all cleaned up ready for primer, paint and clear.

I did come home to a little present on my door step though, unfortunately they won't be going on until the outside is done being wet sanded, buffed and waxed:

2 tone black on yellow with 3M adhesive. Cost me $110 shipped to my door. I think these will look killer in the white footwells!

Had a question about the sealant that connects the 2 pieces on the tuned pipe..it appeared to be orange RTV, is there something special you guys recommend using when I butt the 2 pieces back together and clamp them down?

Also where the tuned pipe connects to the manifold do I need to use that copper spray stuff along with the new gasket? Or would it be ok to use the orange RTV with that gasket ?

I use the spray on that part. Many times you will see evidence of water leakage on the bottom of that gasket... It only happens at high pressure so you won't see it at the launch unless you really wind it up on the trailer.

The spray is the best stuff ever! I use it on both exhaust manifold and head pipe gaskets.

Well shoot, sounds like I will be purchasing the copper spray and using it on both exhaust manifold and head pipe. Thanks nick

Also, shout out to Minnetonka and Spimothy Leary for giving me a hook up price on some parts i was in need of to keep moving on this resto

Finally had some more time for the resto today, got the motor all painted up. Thanks racerxxx for the paint recommendation, it turned out great IMO. The duplicolor wheel paint lays down extremely well!

Now hit it with the clear, it's 100 times glossier That it's if you haven't already, hard to tell from my phone.

I'm very pleased with the color, glad It turned out the way I was invisioning. Here it is with clear and like racerxxx said above its hard to tell, but the clear made a huge difference.

The clear on that color makes it pop. I noticed it when I painted the pipe on my 96. Now I can surely tell the difference after the clear. I don't clear the white, I lather it with the Seadoo lube and it changes to the exact almond-ish white that Seadoo used, same with the wheel silver on my silver speedster engines.

Looks nice man, great job!

Heck ya! Thanks JSG for the visual! Can't wait to get this white top deck all finished up so I can start laying my decal scheme down and mats. Even more motivation seeing that clean 97' above!!

Little bummed out my powder coating buddy got sick on me :puke: so im still playing the wait game on my tuned pipe, and engine bracket. Otherwise the engine would be back in the hull already..

So, in the mean time i've been chipping away on the outside wetsanding away.. I have the bottom half completely done as stated above, but the top half is still being a complete B!TC* :cuss: What would your guys' thoughts be on painting the top deck the original white??

LOL, stick with it. Post #24 I told you it's the worst color. JSG warned me before I did it on my HX. By the time you're done getting the paint, taping off, mixing it, spraying it, cleaning up and hoping you don't scratch it you would have been done wet sanding and buffing. Trust me, once you rid the staining the buffing is the quick part. Just remember, even if you can see a little bit of staining it will be so bright in the sunlight you will blind people with how white it actually is. It's a full on commitment.

Thanks Racerxxx for that confidence booster! That HX looked about the same as my SPX when i got it...

Are you finishing with 1000 then buffing? also once you get to the buffing stage are you using rubbing compound then finishing with something else?
