Just be very careful, I couldn't believe what I was about to do. Use it wet, I use a home depot spray bottle and was constantly spraying. Just for instance if you look under the storage cover(hood), you'll sell some letters that are raised, on the HX they're under the seat near the shock boot. I sanded mine out, so be very careful. Just go to the poor where the staining is just gone. The hull should just buff out without sanding. Oh, very light pressure cause you don't want to dig an edge in. Be careful.

It might have even been an extra fine, I bought a box of them and went through all of them.

Here's a few billet goodies that will be going on once the hulls all wetsanded and buffed out: billet fuel selector, and billet triton gas cap

I actually have 2 of the tritons and one hot products and I found all of them all on eBay. They don't pop up too much so you kinda just have to see it at the right time lol. Here's the other triton on my 99spx

It feels nice to know I got a nice clean runner ready to start the year! Hope CReynoldsMIZ is as happy with the trade as I am! I know as soon as it gets warm he will have that thing cleaned up and shinin like a diamond

Well here's the hood that I will be running on my 97spx, this is an original off my 99spx. Some of you are probaly wondering why I took it off the 99, well I have 2 99's so I kept one orignal and put the single gauge hood on the other one. So now the 97 gets it :)

What's the 'Meguiars' trick? What product? I've a faded hood myself.

I'll be watching this thread for advice. I just picked up a '96 SPX and will need to do most everything you are doing. Please post lots of pics

my results are post #23... I was VERY happy

Ya this white is crazy. Can't believe I'm still seeing the yellowish tint, I'll be sanding away again tomorrow. I'll pick up some of those 3M foam sanding blocks and see how they do racerxxx

its probably late and may not help, but on my challenger project, soft scrub worked really well for the stained, chalky finish.... but my challenger wasn't really THAT bad... but IMO soft scrub got me to about 90%, wet sanding did the rest.

ps... LOVE the gas cap... very nice.

Decided to go through the pump last night: installed all new bearings, new oem wear ring, new nose cone, fresh Amsoil, and a skat 17/22 swirl. I got to use my new pop off tester to test for leaks in the pump. Pumped it up to 10psi and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and the psi didn't drop, good to go!

Next I will be going through the driveline and then the fuel system. I'll be sure to post lots of pics to show everything up close.

lol I see the billet selector switch in the bottom there, looks familiar !

side note: I found a few more exhaust bushings in the bottom of my center console sunday... so if you need some nice new bushings, I can hook you up. I found like 4 sets & spacers.

you should flip that thing and paint the bottom black. Threads like this make me seriously look for a 98/99 X4. I miss my 97 SPX, especially how pretty the motor was:
