I bought a basically abandoned 94 gtx as a project, it would run on pre mix so I decided to rebuild the carbs (including new fuel pump body), replace the spark plugs, and replace the fuel system. After doing all of the above it started easily and ran great. I had to remove the carbs again to replace the oil injection e clip that I lost and decided to not put back on just while testing to see if it would start and run. I also had to replace the rotary valve cover o ring as it had stretched. I unbolted the carbs, laid them against the side of the hull and was going to wait for an o ring to be delivered to me. I found a local jet ski shop that had an o ring out of a kit and I put it on and put it all back together. It would then not start without cracking the throttle open via the linkage and pouring a small amount of fuel in the top of the carbs. It will start like this and run, but then die when I let go of the throttle. My main concern is that it will not start without fuel being introduced through the top of the carbs, cracking the throttle is probably just the idle. I have changed nothing besides the o ring so I am at a loss as to why it will not start normally now. It has perfect 150psi compression on both cylinders. Any help would be appreciated. *A couple things that I think are insignificant: I did have to use a good amount of grease to get the rotary valve cover o ring to stay in place and I did reposition the rotary valve, but I put the front piston at tdc and lined it up within about 5 degrees of 130.
