96 xp wont start

the ski will not start although if i jump the starter it does turn at a normal rate. i was wondering how to test the starter relay because i know if thats not the problem then it is most likely the safety lanyard. thanks for the help. -alex

you will need an volt meter you read the voltage on one side of the relay and test the voltage and you hold the start botton and see what it reads it should be identical. I had this same problem and i ended up replacing the starter becuase in the 787 their known for eating starters. And the fixed the problem becuase it was pulling too many amps.

so even though i jump the starter and it turns fine it could still be pulling too many amps?

oh and do you have to remove the engine to replace the starter? it seems kinda hard to reach from the top
