96 xp wont start, clicking at solenoid but won't crank even crossing terminals

Hey all, i rode my xp hard weekend of the fourth and got too much water on it and it wouldnt start, but then it would turn over, now it wont even turn over. I got a new solenoid and tried it but still nothing, i hit the start button and just a click from the solenoid. I tried crossing the terminals because i have done this before but still nothing. Not even a spark when i cross them! Any help is greatly appreciated!

One more check before removing starter, pull spark plugs and try to crank again. If it doesn't crank over then starter is probably toast from the water you got in it.

Pull starter and "bench" test it. Meaning connect a good known battery to red to positive lug on starter and battery, then tap the black to starter housing where it bolts on using jumper cables.
