Lol I tried to break it loose while the engine was in the ski lol it wouldn't budge. Guess I'll have to go by the shop and pick up my oxygen acetylene rig. I thought my double head Mapp gas torch would do the trick.

Lol, mapp gas. Might as well light a fart, that pto is on there. I've never had luck with mapp other than sweating copper pipes.

I braze with it daily(silver solder copper pipes) but it won't make it glow probably gonna have to get it red hot.

Finally got it apart. If I had an actual machine shop it probably wouldn't have taken so long. The bearing and the gear behind it was the real pita. The parts are currently soaking in evapo-rust. Oh and last night I scored a brand new oem steering cable for 49 shipped

Scored complete oem gasket set for 71.97 shipped. Any suggestions on who I should get to bore the cylinders?

i'm a fan of full bore myself... assuming you can't find a local shop.

I have a nice local shop that has never let me down and of course have the advantage of them only being 10 minutes from my office, no shipping, faster turnaround.

not sure what chamfering is anyway, buy why would that be necessary? by definition chamfering means to cut a beveled edge into.

curious because when I send mine out, do I need to say a specific thing, like " I want these bored and chamfered" ?

and 1of500 that seems like a good deal on the complete OEM kit, because i'm finding aftermarket top end kits for $40 plus shipping

You chamfer the ports so you don't snag a ring. Any good machinist should know to do that before they let a customer pick up their parts. Your paying for a complete job.

That is a great deal for a complete OEM kit, considering an SBT kit is $69.95. But the SBT kit includes carb base gaskets, OEM does not. But SBT does not include an RV oil seal, OEM does.

Yea I also looked at SBT and saw their complete gasket kit for $69.95, and if you don't spend over $100, you have to pay for shipping, so $71 for OEM shipped is great, even if you need to spend the additional $1.25 each plus shipping for carb base gaskets from SBT, which would come to about $6 more total.

So then obviously places like fullbore and reputable local guys, such as your or Spim's local guy would do this without saying...I'll probably go with fullbore then as well

I've called a few local but I didn't get a good feeling over the phone.

Don't know anything about this place, but friends have said that they do good work. Might be worth a call if you don't want to send your jugs out.

Just spoke with Dan the owner of full bore quoted 175 for the jugs and to reassmble the counter balance including the return shipping. Also inquired about having him put the rest of the engine together and adding a warranty. He wants to think that over lol

Good move. They will do you a good job. They did my GTXDI when it was still a friend of mine's ski. After three seasons it still runs great.

Adam what does your blast guy charge and where is he located I thought about buying a small blast setup from harbor freight

Talked with Dan about assembly work at the beginning of the year. He basically turned me down. I've had him do jugs for me in the past, and he does great work... Can't go wrong. As with all good shops, he's slow during the summer due to demand.

Cool project, subscribed.

Coming home to a front porch loaded down with packages made me feel like a kid on Christmas. Still waiting on a few more though.
