it popped off the ball on the carbs? Hmmmm never had that happen. Did you not clip that down far enough?

No the adjustment nuts came loose the linkage actually came apart. I'm heavy handed so I was trying not to break it tightening the nuts after I synchronized the carbs.

Ahhhhhh, ok. Odd never had that happen either.

Well the compression is 160 in each hole so it should be fine I was a little worried when it happened

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

One of the head pipes split the bearings on the crankshaft are noisy. I may get a BRP reman for it it's 1500 plus a 700 core until they inspect the old core.

You going to continue to run the twins or go to a single pipe and tune it down some for reliability?

I'm going back with the twins. Upgrading the carbs to Novi's having the mpem reflash to one timing curve to do away with the tps. All of this should help with the reliability

Nice! Hopefully you will have the 2 beauties running good and we can get some riding in next summer together. Pretty sure I'll be picking up a blue or green spark this winter. The wife loves them and I think it will be nice to have a 4 tec ski to ride as well

you gonna switch it over to a single coil ignition then i assume?

Tim didn't mention having to go to single coil but I didn't ask.

i had him reflash my mpem for my coffman and the first thing he asked me was, "is it a single coil mpem?". All thats really required is switching the mag-cup to a 787 style and modifying the electrical box with a single coil like a 98 xpl style. If you want i can show you pics of what my "dual coil" box looks like since its been modified with the single coil.

In my x4 951 conversion im using the stock electrical box that came out of my old 97 gsx that i restored and sold which obviously had an 800 motor. That mpem has had its rev limiter increased and the correction factor for ignition change to a Code:1 i believe. But in any event the reflashed mpems i see are typically of the single coil variety, and they came in a 2 plug and 3 plug variety as well. No pesty tps sensor required any longer.

It's running good carbs may need to be fine tuned but it's close.

I'll ask him when I send these 46mm carbs for the xp800. I need to start getting the parts for the rebuild of the 951 and locate some 46mm Novi's for the rxx. I just want to get rid of the mid range lean spot that the sbni series has

Just came in to top off the fuel tank and I see a 97ish gs getting towed in by a pontoon boat. Hope he pinched the water supply from the pump. They are across the cove from me at a camp ground or I would offer to help
