Nooooo thank you! Forgot the underside of a 94 spx seat is slightly different from a 96 XP seat bc of the exhaust pipe.... and guess which seat I used....
 
[MENTION=60330]AdamA96XP[/MENTION] I cleaned my hood that was so faded that the green now looked white. so I cleaned the hell out of it, and then used WIPE NEW and it came out pretty darn good, considering there are still a few tiny white spots, and I used elbow grease and NAPTHA for the handlebar cover, which came out great too, with just a few imperfections...

But what is the HAIR DRYER TRICK?

Using a heat gun to slightly melt the plastic makes it shine like new. Just be careful

Lol yep....I could hack up the underside or take off the upholstery and switch seats. Thinking of doing the former

won't go down enough on the back of the seat because of the exhaust pipe... almost but no cigar
 
Get wipe new for your hood, way easier than the heat gun. Bed, bath, and behind sells it. Ask your girl for a 20% off coupon, I'll bet she has more than one, they never expire.
 
yea I've got the wipe new...wondering if using the heat gun THEN wipe new makes it look even better.
 
Straight to wipe new. The heat gun in the darker colors can look marbled. I did Tonka's soft scrub with bleach and a scotch brite pad from Wal-Mart, washed really good in the sink, dried for a full day then wipe new. You can see the yellow hood in my 95 thread.
 
yea ill just stick with the wipe new. I did one application a little over a month ago, then the ski has pretty much been covered since then. we'll see if another application is needed, considering it wasn't exposed, and we'll see if that "it lasts years!" punchline holds any water.
 
and [MENTION=71013]DAGRE147[/MENTION] , I couldn't help but notice, your flush T coming off your head doesn't have another hose connected into it, and its on the opposite inlet as mine. although they are different years, I thought they'd at least be similar in functionality. is the setup correct on yours? or did the previous owner just hack and spaghetti that ski? just curious
 
94.jpgI like to make elementary kiddie drawings in the "paint" program, so as I was saying, my T adapter is where the red circle and arrow are, and where the yellow is, that is usually a long hose going to the back of the ski.
 
Only way I've ever seen it hooked up is that way... mine is a 657, maybe it's different than a 720 but I think they are similar

[emoji41] I had to notch it. Flipped the cut out piece over and put it back in to still provide the heat protection...

I was gonna reupholster honestly but the other seat (spx) is just too far gone to waste the time on
 
Whelp finally got an operational compression gauge for xmas, I was winging it on the ski up till this point bc I had a very 'all over' cheap gauge I had used originally.

135 MAG, 135 PTO. Breath of relief. Not perfect but ill take it given the condition of this ski.

AND I found some fogging sta-bil at wally-world (I couldn't find it ANYWHERE).... score

She's almost ready to sell now. I epoxied the cracks before I went on vacation, and heat gunned the hood tonight. Wipenew didn't work originally, but after heating the hood and letting cool, it worked perfect.

All that is left is a little trailer fabrication, gotta shorten this Jon boat trailer tongue and move the winch closer to ski and add a bumper.... should be fun....

4 day weekend coming up, hopefully I'll knock it out

Sometimes I wish the toung on mine was a few feet longer. It's hard to back up a trailer you can't see especially a single.

And nah its just an empty hull with a few parts left in it
 
ok, so as of right now, besides the one youre selling, do you have any running water toys? I know your profile says 96 challenger.

I'm just wondering why you don't keep it until you get something else running...?.. I don't know where in FL you are, but there are definitely some good riding days throughout the winter.
