So I went to get fuel lines today and of course nobody had more than a few feet of it. So I grabbed a few feet of it and some fuel filters and imma rig it up like that for the time being.

I had read it works pretty well using the Grey tempo with a fuel filter close to carb and good line between filter and carb. Ghetto but a bandaid on the problem for now

Tried the screw driver trick with the carbs to no avail. I just removed the manifold and made it so much easier to get to those bolts. Gotta order a rebuild kit now

Did your rotary valve stay on? If not it will have to be timed again of coarse. Order a kit? Is it a single carb setup? Be sure you have that large O-ring in the right place when you go back on with the manifold.

I've seen the goo form on the nipples on carbs where the tempo lines connect. I would NEVER risk that

I ordered a spool of 1/4 since nobody had it around here. I dint trust the short cut with fuel filters after seeing the exact thing you're talking about

First carb I cracked open wasn't that bad so I got my hopes up. Second carb....a rats nest

the parts I ordered are starting to come in :D and I really think these lime green grips I ordered are gonna go well with the feng-shui (fancy word).

until more of the actual mechanical parts come in, I'm gonna go ahead and build myself a nice big workbench which I seriously need...wife isn't too fond of me cleaning carbs on our coffee table....

i'll be sure to show you guys my sweet carpentry skills!...there is a reason I am not a member of lowesforum.com......

Yes that's all it is. I'll give you one. I'll set it out on a table outside my work so you can come by and snag it anytime. Just send me a text as a reminder.

Free at last, free at last...thank god almighty my bearing seal is free at last!

Greased her up and let her soak in lube all night...vise griped the drive shaft with the handle pushed against the bilge, while I turned the bearing with some channellocks. Now my guardian angel Matt is gonna hook me up with that boot and I'm well on my way..

Rebuilt the carbs completely last night after more than 2 weeks of a little here and there work. I'm missing one damn bolt that is snagging the whole process, the bolt that holds the throttle cable assembly on. I'll have to swing by the store and grab a similar one to rig up for now.

Will drain my tanks and replace the fuel lines and filters, and she'll be ready to crank up....will go from there

p.s I almost forgot! I said i'd upload my sweet carpentry skills for my new work bench. It's a 2 x 8 x 4 massive work bench, I made it 4 foot tall because I'm 6'3 and damn tired of bending over all day lol Wife can finally have her coffee table back

So I stumbled across this... I wasn't expecting fiberglass work.... anybody have any advice

...apologies for the sideways photos, my phone is dumb

That looks fresh.. Ouch I've never done fiberglass work but I'm sure others have

Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Darn salt water. That steering cable is toast too. Glassing it isn't that hard and it is in a place that will not be seen so take your time and watch a lot of youtube vids. Make sure you use epoxy resin and not polyester. Also with epoxy resin you have to use woven cloth and not fiberglass mat as it will not work with that resin. I like West Systems products and they can be found online and West Marine.

Nice I appreciate it, I definitely needed a point in the right direction. Already got a steering cable bc that thing is horrible

The mat looks like this and requires polyester resin to dissolve the binder.

The cloth looks like this and is what you want.

This kit will work fine but I am not sure if it is enough material or not.

May be a dumb question but do you have to remove the entire jet pump in order to remove the drive shaft? Trying to get this boot installed and trying not to gag over smell of jet pump oil lol

you don't have to drain the pump oil at all, the drive shaft goes in the impeller nose. but yes you have to remove the pump.

try mixing 50% tranny fluid and 50% acitone in a good spray bottle and soak the bolts/nuts. ive never worked on a salt turd before,:)
someone will chime in.

Got the bolts off easily.... the rest not so much. Tried the ratchet and a 2x4 trick. .... didn't work out so well
