Hi there, I've recently purchased a speedster in New Zealand. Love the boat but the I have to play with the throttles to maintain an even RPM. The Stbd engine seems pretty stable, but the Pt engine acts quite differently and I have to vary the throttle alot to try and maintain 5,500rpm.
I can tolerate it, but the missus really struggles, and I need her driving so I can board behind.

So reading up a bit more it sounds like the left engine is cavitating. I've had a quick look down the intake underneath and can't see anything obvious, and looking from the backend both props look in pretty good condition, and tight against the wear ring. I'm off out to buy some feeler gauges and measure the gap.

could also be the throttle cable is outta whack. Have your wife, gf..etc, move the throttle assy, while your upside down, looking at the linkage, on the carbs, and compare the 2.

Things to check out.

Drive shaft seal. = Could be sucking air.
Fuel lines. = Check for cracks on the Port line.
Spark plug wires. = Trim back one half inch of wire.
Good Luck!
