You my friend are demented lol. There is also a fuel line that is grey that is currently being made. It is $4 a foot though. I was going to buy it for that 99 resto.

Nice work though. I may have to do that to the 96 we are doing right now.

You always seem to take things to the next level.

I'll take that as a compliment, kinda. I just want it to look as new as it can under the seat. If you want I'll ship you some, I have 94 left. They were $12 for a bag of 100, the dealer wants $3 each. They even have the double sided foam tape like they should. They call them 1"X1" but in reality they measure 1.100"X1.100" which is the exact size seadoo used.

I think I know why Racer.... You just can't bring yourself to drop that engine in because it kills you to have that 96 crank and counter balancer in there.

Solution: take my 95 crank, balancer and cases in on trade and sell me that engine for my new carbon fiber X4. Come on....this should play into your frugalness as well haha.

I admit this would set your timeline back but your not getting it wet this year anyway at this point, are you?

It did bother me at first, not to discredit this ski, but if it was an X engine ski I would take you up on the offer. I also would break the engine back down, I gotta have my original cases. Not having the correct cases would bother me more. Here's all honesty, I've been looking for those cable tie mounts and getting the correct color paint, that is what has been holding me up. I went to my local autobody supply house and had paint mixed to match the original engine color. No rattle can on this engine. Not sure about getting it wet this year or not but I'd like to. I keep reading these guys winterizing and moaning about it. It's 37 degrees here right now, not planning on winterizing yet cause I still want to ride. No timeline for the ski now since I just keep finding stuff I want to change/replace. I could easily just wait until next season to get it wet, but it will run this year.

I can't wait to see this done. You have put alot of time, thought, and of course money into this. Have you found a yellow vinyl that is close to oem? I know you probably have been looking high and low for an oem seat cover but thise are near impossible to find. I know you have one that is really nice but knowing you, you probably were still looking.

They're just like this bag, but natural color. At my hd they're right with the wire nuts. Marketed by Commercial Electric.

Winterizing? We just had our hottest weekend of the summer at 95 degrees. Here in California our only problem is the lakes are almost dry.

The guy that owns a cycle/Seadoo shop up the street from me lives a few streets down, he has a minty minty fresh 95 xp800 and a mint spare 95 xp800 hump seat with original seat cover. I can see if he's willing to let it go if you want.

It must be a take off from 95, I don't think it ever saw water, and if it did, it was very, very little.

As far as where it came from CReynoldsMIZ knows a guy who knows a guy and he brokered the deal for me months ago. It's been sitting here, just eating me alive. Chris (under my hyper guidance) packed it and shipped it from Missouri to me. There is $25 in boxes, bubble wrap and a full roll of packing tape on that. Oh, and some old styrofoam from a TV box. It made it's journey to me safely. So that is straight from 1995 to 2014! It's to die for, the seal on the seat pan is so thick I had to adjust the seat post.

Winding down on new parts, just picked up an NOS choke cable and the small black plastic outer choke plate and a fuel switch nut. I think I'm down to a new cover and the decals. Probably missed something small.

Geezus that thing is pretty!
Too bad you dont have a retro cover for it ;)
(Im sure you actually do , or its on the list lol)

yup, i would say that seat definitely looks familiar! Glad you finally spilled the beans. I really hope the graphics turn out nice.

also, you better do the swimsuit check before anyone gets on there to ride! It would be a damn shame to see a black stain from a bikini bottom on there

It was tough holding back, you know. Now the only big reveal will be the finished product. I think I will run this seat a few times and just put it away...maybe. I'll make sure my kids wear yellow suits when we go out and ride.

Speaking of your choke cable...
when I was a novice and before I knew what to look for, that black plate came loose from where the pull handle is on the console, so not knowing any better at the time, I epoxied it with like rock solid marine epoxy... Then I saw afterwards (when redoing the gas lines) that there was a plastic nut behind there that unthreaded and slid down the length of the cable.
What would you guys use to remove that epoxy? like a hard resin epoxy? is there any specific liquid or do I have to use a dremel and just be extremely careful?
