Drop it off where? I have 2 that I've been holding on to. One is pretty beat up and one is in ok condition, but not great. Wouldn't mind getting them refreshed and then keep em as spares.......or sell em.

Let me see how this holds up and see if the place is interested in doing them as a service. I was told it took about 3 hours to do it. I've already got it dirty and had to clean it with soft scrub. It's probably been done and sitting with a towel on it for a year now, so it has never seen the environment, it could turn to crap in a week with a cover on it or melt down once it sees the sun, I have no idea.

If they're not willing to do it as a service they mind sharing what they do? They don't have to be super specific if it's some kind of trade secret of there's. Just want to know the process. I have 2 sitting in a box. One the PO painted. However I can flex the rubber and the paint flakes off.

I'm working out pricing with them on it. It also might not be a doable process for EVERY cover since some are gooey or previously painted etc....

I rode with Suke this weekend and he just mentioned this thread to me. Really hits home after the restoration I did with mine. I have to say though, you are taking what I did to the next level. Don't know how you manage to come across some of these NOS parts. Glad to see you're working with Mike to perfect the decals. He only had me trace the outside originally and the magenta color definitely ended up being a little off. Depending on how they turn out I may replace my Version1 with your Version2.

I have to assume you found a NOS seat cover?

Also, since my restoration I purchased a showroom mint 95 XP800, so if you still need help with the graphics I can help with color matching as mine are perfect all over.

Here is a picture of my all original 95 XP800

Here is a picture of my restoration with the garage queen original. You will notice the slight difference in decal color.

And a little bonding time with the restoration ski.

That thing is kleeen MPower, we gotta all ride soon. Im at barton creek ramp falls lake every sat and sun.

If they were not next to each other you would not notice the xp decal is a different color and that the size and angles of the decals are off. The front decal looks a little big and the rear looks like it was on a different angle.

Told him he needed to haul is resto down here and ride with us sometime. We'll likely have to go up there to ride with him. Hah! Although if you got a buddy up there too might not be a bad idea.

I saw what you did with your resto and that drove me to step my game up, so thanks for the encouraging words. NOS parts, yeah they take some time to track down and a ton of diligence. But when you uncover them, you just know it's gonna take the resto that much further. I especially enjoy the wait, when you get the shipping confirmation and now you know in a few days it will be there and you question yourself, "Is it going to be as nice as I prayed it was going to be?" Then you put in on and that seals the deal, "Yes, it was worth the money and the wait and the time wasted tracking it down." I only have a few more "parts" I want to get, just need to part with the cash. Mike has been killer to deal with. He has the NOS decals right now so the color should be 100%, he should also be able to have the rear decals 100% sized from my tracings. NOS seat cover, nope haven't dug one up yet. Your new ski looks mint, I guess you still have your resto's ski then still? I though Suke said you were selling it, not sure how you could--I would have the hardest time doing that. My problem is I just build keepers.

Yup he still has it. I rode it this weekend. :-) I was really surprised how different it rode compared to the 96. Then I rode an rxpx and woah! That's like riding a rocket compared to the xp. I'll let mpower tell you how that ride went for me. Lol!

I got lucky and stumbled across 2 NOS seat covers. The Seadoo gods were looking down on me.

I do still have the restoration ski. I had two offers of $3000 for it, but when it came down to it I just couldn't part with the ski. Both of them are going to the grave with me.

Mike did do a good job on the original set he did. If he did that off just pictures then I say he did an amazing job.

Mike had me do the same tracing process, however just the outside shape and then he did the inner design based off pictures I sent him of a minty 95 XP800. Picture of the tracing I did over 2 years ago.

That's crazy on the seat covers, something will work out. Yeah, if I had to sell mine I'd be well north of $3K once I'm done. I don't blame you for not cutting it loose, once you get so much time and effort into these it can get emotional. Heck, I still get a grin from ear to ear when I see my stuff behind me and I'm heading to the river. Not sure how I will be able to contain myself once both X-4's are on the same trailer behind me. What's really cool is two weeks ago a buddy and I hit the river for some exploration and I got to see my 96 in action all day. He was thrilled that I gave him the more powerful of the 2 skis (XP vs. my HX), I told him I'm nice like that. But I really love riding my HX--A LOT

Hows that going for you anyways Dan, I know the first few rides on the HX you were a bit sore the next day. All back in seadoo shape again? I know my first few rides were a bit tough the next day, it's all good now though.

Ha, no more Jimmy legs. First few rides are always tough but as the season goes on your used to it.

Any updates?

Nope, keeping you all in suspense. LOL, just kidding. Just taking it slow and easy. Pressure tested the engine today finally and it passed with a small leak on the head pipe gasket but not enough to fail the test. A few heat cycles and I know I'm good to go. So I need to paint the engine and drop it in, maybe this week. I'm going riding tomorrow so it will sit another day.

After hours researching these(yes, hours), I finally found them........at Home Depot. Dealer could not confirm if they would be exactly the same as the originals so I didn't order them from the dealer. Well the ones from HD were! Correct pattern on the stand with radius for a cable to lay into (first pic). Yes, this is way extreme for a cable tie mount, but I've gone this far I might as well keep going. The old stained and dirty ones just stuck out so badly. I even took pics of which way the cable tie was originally inserted into the mount. I even drilled the holes for the epoxy nubs to fit through so I could replace all the visible ones. Why, not sure why, but I did none the less.

You my friend are demented lol. There is also a fuel line that is grey that is currently being made. It is $4 a foot though. I was going to buy it for that 99 resto.

Nice work though. I may have to do that to the 96 we are doing right now.

You always seem to take things to the next level.

I think I know why Racer.... You just can't bring yourself to drop that engine in because it kills you to have that 96 crank and counter balancer in there.

Solution: take my 95 crank, balancer and cases in on trade and sell me that engine for my new carbon fiber X4. Come on....this should play into your frugalness as well haha.

I admit this would set your timeline back but your not getting it wet this year anyway at this point, are you?
