I am a techie and nothing like that scares me. Now the speed does scare me. I don't want to go 80 on the water. The issue with two strokes is the epa otherwise you would still see them today on the market. A 951 gsxl that was prepped right would be more fun than I could handle and run for a full season for less than $1500. That said I do understand just doing something because it is cool or just cool to you.

Alright guys, we swriously considered this electric path. You can buy a 150 hp mtr. 250 torque@ $3300 its 9 inch in diameter.. 29 inches long. Weighs 190lb. So the battery situation is real issue. Current lithium Ion Polymer...polymers dont catch fire if punctured, weigh 80% less than conventional batteries. They now charge 70 % in 6 mins and full charge in 15 mins. My Seadoo battery weighs 1.5 lbs! Its doable.. short of swamping boat and 96 volts damn near killing you! Snap

I was a part of building an all electric off road buggy/ polaris RZR wanna be. The electric thing is very do- able actually in terms of weight. Significant runtime is another story

I always wanted to bolt an electric motor right up to a wrangler for off road use only. Max speed of 10 mph with massive torque at 5-10 mph for rock crawling, you could ride for hours. Then charge it over night. You need quiet torque at low rpm on the trail. It would be a good fit.

Of course $ is the issue. I could swap in a 350 faster and cheaper.

I'm hoping to scrape together a few pennies for my Model X deposit by Feb.
If you spin the electric motor in a PWC in reverse, will it go backwards without a reverse gate? Or would the gate just be easier.

Also, it would have a TRUE off setting. Engines don't like to start/stop. Motor don't care!

Has anyone seen new Tesla video? Geezus 3sec to 60. 695 hp at 796 torque awd! Sbrtooth Not sure what a prop what do in reverse. No steering likely.

My wife and I drove one last Saturday. P85D. And yes, in Insane mode. and yes, it will take your breath away.

I'm planning on putting the deposit down on the Model X (SUV) within the next two weeks.

I want to get my deposit (reservation) in before they announce pricing... as when they do I suspect I'll be even further back than the already 24,000 deep I most likely am...

My old IH Scout had the Dana 18 transfer case in it with a PTO cover and shaft access for various accessories, an electric motor could have been bolted right on there. I stuck a planetary overdrive on the PTO due to the 4:88 differentials, and managed to get around 24MPG from less than 20MPG IIRC.

Btw ..off topic. Still getting my ass kicked on engine mounts lol

I'd probably start with a few pistons, crankshaft, bearings, quick hone and slap a head on there, to provide that little bit of inspiration sometimes needed to get things moving along. Maybe knock some dust off too, so it doesn't look abandoned? :)

i think he said in a previous post that it was a motor he uses to just get a look of things....unless yall are being sarcastic....then i'll just shut my mouth...

See what happens when you dont tip Valet parking!

Dude, that place doesn't have valet service.....!?!?!?! :O

My car was almost new, then look what they did to my stuff when I made the same mistake (before and after photos)......

Lol! Back on track guys! I think we hijacked a reasonable thread request for engine conversion ideas and we now stand at " oh look....squirrel"

The best X4 conversion option is still dropping a 951 in it. Many are finding success with the Kawi triples but I'm a Rotax man. A 787 based engine was first to the first turn in the unlimited HX's this year at the World Finals though.

I say one should spend a grand (or more haha) on they're X4's in extra's first and then decide if they need more. I bet I'm getting another 20HP out of a pump gas 787 so that's stock 951 power. I admit the time and money spent at that point is just as much as getting a donor ski with a 951. There is more then one way to skin a cat I guess.

Agreed Matt. Our 951 x4 stock runs about the same as our "strung out" FP full limited race boat. Which needs constant maint. The 951 will likely pull some more top end with out spinning 7500 rpm. Figure you can buy a full limited race boat at $2500, sell all race parts and engine for 1500 then build stock 951 at same price and make more hp- reliabilty! Imhop

Id love to see one of the 96ish jet boats with twin 951's. The twin 787 boats are awesome, I can't imagine a twin 951 small jet boat.

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Make the switch if I had the money. Those spark hulls are garbage, essentially recyclable plastic (polypropylene)
