This came up on Craigs List today and I've been looking for a winter project, if everything checks out with the running ski, I thought about offering $1400.00 and go to $1500.00 if I have to. I've been looking for a double trailer anyway. My wife says I have to flip one in the spring.

What do you guys think?

Lou

I'd say go for it. Next spring a running XP like those should be able to sell for the price of your initial investment. Then you'd have an XP for you and a double trailer that's looks to be in good shape.

looking at a couple for myself Lou.. looks like a good deal specially if you can get them done a little further..

Lou you know what my answer is gonna be already but I've gotta make it official........Yes it's a go!! Don't be afraid to point out the problems and let him drop down as low as he's gonna go, then hit him with a couple few hundos shy of that. You know the deal, spend a minute with him and price slides.

I just heard from the owner, I'm going to look at them tomorrow. I think I'll offer 1500.00 cause he said OBO.

hay lou im going though lexington today on my way to gatlinburg tn for vaca, but it sounds like a good deal, but tired of hearing the word winter already...lol

Im going to bet that the one that has been taken apart got sunk. Look at all that dirty water that is sitting around/ on the head. That is what my ski usually looks like if i have gotten water in the engine and am flushing it out with the spark plugs out. Also, for some reason the rear e-box is missing also. May be helpful in negotiations dont know

That would absolutely be a steal in my neck of the woods. A running XP without a trailer goes for that price here. Hope you can grab them!

Lou, Let us know how it goes. You could probably find a buyer here if the one not running looks to be in pretty good shape just re-assembly and a good cleanup.

BTW you still have that '95 800 you bought a while back?

I enjoy those kind of projects. Well, as long as I'm not doing them for someone else. ;) The last two 90's ski's I bought, I bought because I couldn't find a good deal on a trailer by its self. You'd pretty much be getting a good deal on a ski & a trailer, plus a broken ski for free.

Good thing I am a snowmobiler too, because you are talking about winter......:p

Hi Tim,

Well I'm not sure, the second XP probably needs a new engine, or at least a top end rebuild. Both ski's were real sound but they both need a lot of TLC. I offered the guy $1500.00 and I haven't heard back. Honestly that's all they are worth to me, I really don't need 3 XP's but the double trailer would be nice.

I took the picture in my avatar today at the lake, almost looks professional, I used a $49.00 waterproof Kodak camera.

Lou,

Sounds like they would keep you busy over the winter. Not sure if that's good or bad! Since I don't have any XP's, I'd try to seal the deal in them, but since you're already in business, no urgency. Was the trailer good?

The photo turned out beautiful. Very sharp image.

Nice pic for sure. A little busy with all the vinyl for me, but overall a really clean 'Doo for sure.

No beaching your rides there either from the looks of it! LOL Beautiful surroundings either way.

Bought em' maybe?

Well I think I bought the ski's today, we settled on a price, however there is a catch. The titles, they were originally registered in Arkansas, I have the original Certificate of Origin, issued by Bombardier and signed over to the dealer.
Since Arkansas is a no title state I might have a chance to get these registered. I've got a contact at the County Clerks Office and I'll go talk with her tomorrow.

I have the titles and no money has changed hands so I feel confident, I told the owner if I can't get a title the sale is off, nothing ventured nothing gained. I hope it works out because I got them for $500.00 less than the asking price.

Way to kick him in the teeth price wise Lou. I hope the titles work out cause I love the daily 96XP chatter.

Matt,

To tell the truth it was not all good news, the good ski was better than I expected, 152 & 153 psi compression. However the bad ski was worse, the motor is seized, so in my way of thinking I'm buying one good ski and one for parts. I'm not going to invest in a rebuilt motor, but it could be an easy fix.

This makes number 4 and 5, I'm running out of room to put these things, could I bring a couple down there?
