Spark iBR

Does it make a difference whether the Spark is a 2 up or 3 up as to how desirable (or unnecessary) the iBR is?

IBR is a great feature. Once you use it its hard to not to be constantly be reaching for it.

BUT...its an expensive electronic item. I have been told they are much like VTS, built to fail...not very water resistant.

Also if you are into modding stuff, future trim and nozzle setups will not fit.

I think its all personal opinion.

I've never owned a ski with IBR, however I have owned one with a reverse gate, so I would say that yes it would be more important on a larger (3 up) ski than on a smaller ski (2 up). Historically at least on 2-stroke skis SeaDoo has put reverse gates on the larger ski's and VTS on smaller ski's.

I think this is a case if size matters.

Small skis are more agile and easier to handle around docks and what not at slower speeds

The ski my wife rides is a GTX 155. It has the IBR system and it is worth every penny to me as she knows exactly how to use it.

I'm good with IBR or the manual lever. I love the ease if the IBR though. People seem to pick up on it almost instantly. If they get nervous it seems to be a natural thing to do so they grab the lever. Much like a bike.

For my wife I will always own an IBR ski.

Has the iBR setup proven to be reliable in the long term?

I would say yes.

On my GTX it has performed flawlessly. I would not own a "luxury" ski without it. The reverse is super smooth and easy for new riders to understand. The brake is almost a natural thing to do when they panic.

Some have had it stick, but pretty rare compared to how many skis have it installed.

Yup the buddy that told me about them breaking said they have replaced a couple....not a bunch. BUT...he said most of them were ones that got a bunch of water in the hull for some reason or another and a few months later....dead.

Its not that they break constantly, esp when they are new....but if they do break its $$$.

HI Guys

Just wanted to update you all.

I received one of the first Seadoo Sparks in South Africa. Its a 90Hp 2 seater with no other options. She's been affectionately Named "Panda" by my wife cause we got the Black & White model.

We took Panda out yesterday and here is my review.

It's an awesome machine. I haven't had so much fun on a sit down ski since the mid 90's. Its a very playful hull, very sensitive to body weight transfer. It grips in the corners but if you want it to slide you just transfer your weight so that the sponson doesn't hook up. Its so much fun. Also feels very light in the water, very easy to create a setup wakes and jump them, maybe get around 2-3 foot of Air. Also still running it in so I'm not pegging full throttle. The motor is very responsive. In touring mode its easy going and in sports mode the throttle is very sharp and super responsive. I don't think you need more than 90hp. It's not really about going fast. It's more about sliding and playing, 180 Spins and then it's slides backwards into the spray. So much fun. This machine should do really well. Plastic does look a bit cheap but the smile on your face gets you over it. Also it's appears to be light on gas as I only used a sixth of the tank during 1hr 20 min of riding. LOVE IT, well done SEADOO. Must be a different monster in the surf. can't wait to give that a burn out.

IMO we all lost our way to the speed monster. Going as fast as you can is fun for a day or two but it gets dull. Flicking, spinning, jumping sliding is a workout that just SMILES ME.

Also I Think iBR could be awesome to add some extra tricks to the bag but not a major loss.
