mine was beat up, but not quite that bad. I left it on under my cover.

Those pics didnt work but assuming I make the cover tight enough, the split in the front of my seat should not even show.

My old cover was long gone so I just covered the foam with heavy painter's plastic first.

My new covers arrive today. What is the best way to install the new ones? Hydroturf says to keep the oem ones on however my gsx already had a cover installed and it seems they removed the oem already. My XP I would love to keep it on BUT the very front vinyl is split ( see pic circled in red ). Do you think I should still remove it or just remove the tape and cover over it? I also found a video of a guy applying silicone to the underside where all the stitching is. He claims it prevents water from getting down to the foam. Thoughts, tips, ideas??

When I did mine I recovered over the stock one, it appeared to be glued to the foam and I didn't feel like trying to peel/cut it off. Turned out fine. I couldn't see your photo real well but if it were me I would probably remove any tape or anything, then maybe use some spray adhesive to stick down the splitting part, then put the new cover over it and be done. I think I remember seeing that video as well. I don't think I did it because I think the HT one had the seams already sealed?

Well here they are!! The red cover looks sweet, the yellow is still growing on me- I dont know if I like all of the black on it but hopefully once its covered it will look better. I agree, the oem yellow seat is stuck to the foam and doesnt look fun. I will probably leave that on, glue the split and cover over. The gsx seat however will be getting some thick plastic wrap first I think.

What kind of handlebar cover is that on the xp

It's from a later ski. a 99 RFI or DI ski is what you want to get them from. They will have a single hole under the pad vs 2 from a carbed ski.

I use a black HEYCO plug to fill the hole. You will need to make a bracket with spacers to hold the bar pad in place, if not it will move all over the bar cover.

My latest seat, custom bolsters, heavy stitching, extra foam, super incredibly comfortable.

anyways...

I recently picked up two x4's so currently I have in my possession a JT hump seat that's a little ragged around the edges, but serviceable, I have considered recovering it but i'm going to wait and see if I can find a local buyer to get rid of this and fund the expenses for seat #2.

seat #2 that I picked up has bad cover, bad foam, so basically its just a plastic base from which I could start from scratch if I wanted to. So I'm looking for some idea's or suggestions.

Those that own a hump seat, (*I never have*)

Is it more about aesthetics or does the hump serve an actual purpose?

If you were designing an X4 seat from the ground up what would you like to see?

I'm tossing around some ideas:

small bolster near the "hump" or a more crisp rise on the hump so you can lock in a little bit on the ass, possibly some small bolsters around the front side edges where you knees go so you can lock your legs in?

A front zipper pouch for a set of keys?

Any crazy idea's that you've thought of when riding? "I wish my seat had" kind of thoughts?

Spim, I love the look and the ride. Most guys seem to not like the hump, it's not on the right place. But I'm a bigger guy and find it just fine. I tend to ride towards the bars where most probably don't.

I love the hump, it moves your riding position more forward. It's not for everyone but it fits my riding style perfect
