I got all the primer block sanded but found a few more scratches that needed some duraglass. I will sand them today and get the spots in primer. I also will be getting the hood around today since I will be doing this in yellow.

ok guys, I plan to get a lot done over the next 3 days. Im going to take the rx apart and part out what i dont need. will the 951 computer run the 787 gauges? im thinking im going to run the trim gauge in the hood and the gas on the ski. i do have two 96xps for parts that i can take stuff off of and im going to part them out as well...

Yes gauges work. You have to use the RX throttle cable if you use the RX MPEM because of the TPS.

Thanks matt. Im getting some stuff done. I got the hood sanded and then primed. Found some more scratches that needed sanded so I hit them. I have it in primer again now. Just need to sand a few spots on the bottom of the ski and it's ready for paint. I'm also taking the rx apart right now.

I am using this as my comparison picture to decide what I want to do with this thing. :)

Why do you always hijack a thread? it's irritating, I'd like to follow this X4 951 build, but you always comment about what you want to do with 'your' skis....and it's especially distracting when you throw in a bunch of recycled unrelated pics. Admin needs to step in....most of the threads are getting way off topic from the subject line every time you respond..

Glad you said it and I didn't have to!

Getting some work done today. This is my paint set up. I have done this a few times now with amazing results. I'll have to get another qt of yellow tomorrow and the clear it. I still have some spots on the bottom of the ski that need some more color along with the hood. I also use a box fan with filters on it and wet the walls and floor when I spray.

I would be interested in knowing what you used to enclose your spray area and how you set your fan up for ventilation. I would like to do something similar but a little larger. The white color is great for reflecting light so you can see your work better. Thanks.

the room is 12ft long by 10ft wide. what i do is then take 4, 2by4's and make a box. this way i can wet the floor and walls with water. I then take a 20in box fan and put a filter on both sides. i set this right inside the paint room and put it on 3 (high) and let it go. As far as ventilation goes i have a bathroom exhast fan built in to my garage ceiling that i used when ever im doing something that smells and it dumps the stuff right out side. I also heat/air condistion my garage year around.

so, i should have the rest of the yellow paint tomrrow. i'll get that finished up but in the mean time i did get some more parts. i got a 155mm pump wedge along with a red top drop trim.

I need to find some time to calld brad today or tomarrow about the miller stuff he is making. I do need a casecooler but not really wanting to spend 135 on something that nice i cant see when i could get a seadoo one for around 30 to 40 i would think.

while you're not wrong about not being able to see it, the stock plastic is a flimsy cheap s*it compared to something that Brad is selling, Ron is making, and Mel designed is giving his blessing on.

Got the bottom of the ski done along with the hood. I will flip it tonight. Also for you people that have been pm me about the paint I used. I have did this on a budget like the last seven or so ski that I have painted this way with good results. It is Dupli-Color lacquer base color ($25 a qt) but then I go over it with a 2K clear that you can get off of eBay ($75 a gal). Like I said I've had very good luck with both of these products.1st ski was painted for 6 years ago.

I'm surprised the solvents in the 2K don't attack the lacquer.
Are the walls just lightweight white plastic tarps? Thanks for the other info.

How come everything doesn't have a yellow tint from overspray ??? I know I know.... I'm not a good painter but I do get most of it on the panel I'm painting. LOL Looks GREAT !!

Got some more done today. Ski flipped back over and the top is sanded. Have to fix a few spots, so I put some duraglass in the spots that need fixed and plan to sand and primer it tomorrow.
