1994 XP 657X engine. New recon unit runs fine on stand once it's in the water it runs like it is way to rich. Plugs wet and foul looking. Check carbs adjustments at spec (high at 0 turns and Low at 1 turn) Thinking the rotor timming is of. Static timming is on line. Any ideas

When you say wet, my first thought is that maybe your water jacket is bleeding into your cylinder. But you said it is a new reconditioned motor. Did you put the rotary valve and cover on yourself?

That's what I was thinking. After you check the gap, let us know what you got. I'll try and look in the troubleshooting guide and see if there is any answers there that may help.
