I typically don't document my builds, but figured it would be fun to do one. This is going to take most of the winter, so I will prob be updating it every few weeks. I am going to teardown my RXX for some of the parts - as I don't need 2 piped skis, and the XPL handles significantly better on the track than the RXX. I plan to convet the RXX to a rec ski with a white pipe, vts & oem pump.

Build Plans:
100 low lead av gas fuel
1020 wiseco pistons
stock stroke crank w/ hot rods & koyo metal race bearings
thick base gasket (bigger than 8 hole)
cut top of cylinder to get 60 thous squish
gas operated raves
R.E. head w/ custom cut 1020 domes
rinaldis & spacers
buckshot 47's
Coffman pipe
lightened oem flywheels
case cooler
RXX mpem (may switch to single coil mpem w/ Coffman curve if RXX mpem doesn't work out)
rear exhaust exit
148mm skat 14 vein setback
16/23 swirl
RXX driveshaft (hope it fits)
skat 82/85 nozzles
umi steering
works sponsons

I'd really like to find a fiberglass or carbon fiber seat & pod, but I don't think those are in the budget right now. I also am contemplating having Miller do some rec porting on the cylinder, but that is another $700 I don't currently have. My friend JT (seadooaddiction on this forum) has a very similar 1st bore over stock pump gas setup turning 67mph at 7500rpm, so I expect the same speed with an unbeatable holeshot.

So here are some pics as everything sits. Still need to tear down my RXX before it snows. I've got my work cut out, the previous owner of the xpl had a Coffman pipe in there and had no clue what was going on (epoxied wood in engine compartment & super temp melt down inferno on all exhaust components).

I like this idea :)

ps.. if your in need of a white pipe a friend down here just picked up a 97.5, he was asking under market price for it when I was talking to him a couple weeks ago.

thanks, but I have one. it is painted black and on the garage floor to the left of the the oem 951 black chamber in the last pic.

maybe I should sell off some unnecessary parts to fund the miller porting... rxx pipes, 148mm 12 vein, skat reduction nozzle, hydro drop trim...

I would have Tim at novi reflash the mpem to get rid of the multiple curves and the need for the tps he recommended that to me

Right, forgot about tps. Well, that makes the decision simple. I'm going to try wayniac for the single coil mpem reflash.

Got some goodies in the mail. It's basically a small miracle that I found the Coffman pipe, as there are none available. It came without a flange adapter, but luckily WCM has one in stock. Next step is to get the 1020 wiseco pistons. Then I need to have the cylinder bored, exhaust ports re-aligned, raves cut, and the dome squish bands re-cut.

gotta give props to my friend JT (seadooaddiction). He put the feelers out a few weeks ago and word went through the grape vine until jimmyw contacted me on pwctoday. funny thing is jimmyw got the pipe from braley a while ago, and was holding it as a backup for his hydrodoos.

update:

got a new in package Coffman flange from Chris at Watercraft Magic. Also have 47mm Buckshot BRM's coming from my buddy JT. I've decided against the 1020 for the upcoming year, as I am more concerned about getting it running then the bore size. So the XPL will be getting my RXX engine with the rinaldis (Matt Braley bought my RXX twin pipes), and the RXX will be getting a stock motor with a white pipe in it.

I've got to order some bits and pieces from Minnetonka (99+ drive line, 99+ steering cable, hood and seat shocks), and get my 98xpl MPEM reflashed by Tim at Novi-tec (or Wayniac) and then the actual assembly process wrench time will begin.

I'm stealing the 14 vein setback pump & the engine from my RXX, so for the most part this is a easy bolt together project. Too bad it will be finished when we have snow on the ground here in NJ.

update. just secured a 1050 Miller Q engine for the race xpl. I have contacted Mel and will post more info on it when I get it in my hands in a few weeks.
