Quicksilver Oil vs Seadoo XPS

That's still cheap, where do you get it for $30.00? At that price it might be worth it to mail order.

Upon discussing oil brands with my marine mechanic, he mentioned that the seadoo oils are what he recommends, although purchase price varies from sources, the ash content in seadoo oil is minimum and from his experience, other brands have high ash contents which cause plugs to get dirty and accumulation of "crap" in the engine (for my layman ears). Any thoughts on this or other attributes of the oil compounds?

I personally think any API-TC certified, low ash oil is fine, API-TC is all low ash. I've been using Quicksilver PWC, full synthetic oil for a couple of years, and I haven't had any problems, the RAVE valves have stayed exceptionally clean. I will admit that I use the Quicksilver because it's readily available (Walmart), and the price is right.

I would probably be using the SeaDoo XPS (which is made by Castrol), except the dealer here is across town and it's extremely expensive, more than twice what I've been buying the Quicksilver. That being said if you can get the XPS at a good price go with the XPS. I believe your boat has RAVE valves so you will want to use full synthetic.

wow this is news to me...i have a fully rebuilt engine and was told not to touch Quicksilver PWC oil on that new thing.
I haven\t got my oil yet but i decided to go with amsoil interceptor
my seadoo dealer (snow city has it for $53)

As long as you are using oil...LOL you will be fine.

I ran Amsoil up until last year....I found that it took the coating off my new pistons on my snowmobile. I guess its known in the race circuit.

I had maybe 400mi on my sled when I had a base gasket blow out and when we got the cyl off I noticed the coating was GONE.

Talked with a race buddy and he said his buddy ran a test all summer between yamalube and amsoil and after a race season both motors were tore down. Both had done its job...fairly clean raves, clean motor...the only thing was their piston coating was gone on the Amsoil boat.

I then talked with many people and most people tend to agree that Yamalube is the best oil out there. I decided to switch last winter but the problem is their watercraft 2 stroke is only available in quarts...so I went with their synthetic for offroad/sleds. Let me also mention I premix both my PWCs and sled. (all are modified)

So in conclusion...make sure to use oil. All that matters is you use the right one. On the 580-720 non synthetic is fine. 787-951s need full synthetic.

This subject has been beat to death, like Pa always says, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a thread about oil. That KY (Kentucky Jelly), sure tastes funny on toast.
