Hello Gents
Well I am in the middle of putting in a stage 1 in my 2004 rxp 215 s/c! I was changing my intake grate and had a little inspection of the Pump Support and noticed all but one fins are missing! My Question is; is this going to screw with the proformance on my ride? And am I loosing alot of power not having all these intact!

The fins as such in the jet pump allow the water to swirl correctly from the thrust of the impeller. I haven't heard of anyone loosing the fines inside the pump, are you sure they are gone?

Karl

This is the pump support Karl there are viens in there (well mine are gone but 1) this is looking from the intake grate looking at the impellar.

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. Can you snap a picture to post here?

Karl

Personally, I'd just clean out the rest of the cheese from those straightening fins and go ride. I don't think they offer much noticeable improvement over anything.

Plastic?.....

:agree: with Doc!..... These fins have minimal impact on the performance of the ski.

This design came about as one of those things when an R&D engineer said "hmm, what else can I put in there"..........LOL

When the water comes into the ski at a high rate of speed, the low pressure area can be really turbulent. These plastic directional fins were added to help channel the water direction with less rotatonal change, keeping cavitation to a minimum, kinda like the way a skeg works on the plane of the waters surface.....holding a direct line inward.

I agree with Doc..........shave them off and clean the surface up and go ridin! But I would try and smooth them out..............

I agree with the previous posts. Use a dremel or a roto zip tool and just smooth out all the existing fins stubs left.

Karl

Thanks Karl and Snipe! One of the best things I've heard over the past few days. I have to get the broken screw out so I can install the new intake grate, shave off the acess fins then off for a ride!

Thanks again for all your help!

thankful

It sounds like the finns are not an issue, had about 15% removed due to rock. First time to see this, but it looks like I'm ok. I have no where near the damage on the finns as pics in this thread. I shouldn't worry putting it back in the water with the light damage to the fins, had to get it out of the water to get rock out, so hopefully no issues when I put it back in the water in a few months.
