Just wondering how often you guys/gals actually replace these things in the real world.

The real world... you mean like when is it recommended or when do you feel like it...well lets see you should change it every season, but heck you could wait till the engine sizes up and change it, or every 5 years after you replace the $1000.00 engine. That's a tough choice...couple dollar filter or the engine...hhmmm let me think on that...:ack:

:agree:

The filter is $5 - $8... and it only takes a few minutes to swap it.

OK... it takes about 30 minutes if you count bleading the air from it.

Yes, I know what the recommendation is and I know what good practice would be. I was just wondering what users do versus what they say we should do. Sort of like an automobile manual may suggest changing the oil every 3000 miles, but some people wait and do it every 5000 miles. Do you actually change yours every season because the manual says so or just when you think it is time? That's what I was getting at.

I don't own a 2 stroke seadoo...I have and changed it at least every season of use. Here in Florida the season is year long, so I would change it after 50 hrs of use which is 2 times a year being used year round. This isn't a car...Most average use hours on a 96-97 seadoo is around 150 hrs if your lucky... How many hrs do you spend in you car in 12 years? I bet a lot more, so there is no comparrison.

I only use my ski about maybe 8-10 hours a season, so I change mine like every 3rd season.. i chaanged it at the begining of this season..

I'm sorry Karl, I wasn't comparing the two. I was just using that as an example of what I was trying to get at with the poll. In other words, not asking what I should do, but what people actually practice.

Did you mean the average life of a 96-97 is 150 hours?? I am pretty sure I have way more than that on mine. :ack: I am planning on getting a new DESS soon. I am going to get them to check the hours while they are programing it to the MPEM.
