I have a 717 engine and I was getting it ready for the upcoming season and while doing so I noticed that the piston were locked up so I sprayed some fog oil down onto the piston till I got them free... now everything is moving freely but I noticed what sounds like a scratching sound in the piston.... I was wondering if I fill the pistons with some of the 2 stroke oil to lubricated the walls well will I have any issues later on... I just don't want to try and start the engine and ruin the chance of blowing a ring...

Thanks

More or less......... that engine is done.

If it has internal rust... you may be able to get it to clean up, but the crank, and all the bearings are going to be rusted up too. So, assuming that the rings are still sharp enough to get it to start, it may run for a short time, but something will let go once you start to push it hard.

This is why it is important to properly winterize a ski.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

if you have a bore scope, you can look inside.... but if you don't, you got to take it apart.
