Hey guys amd girls, im new to the seadoo jet boat thing, ive always had outboards, i just bought a 98 speedster with the twinn 800's, Do i have to use seadoo oil in it? Im not freakin paying 30+ a gallon, Could i just use any TWC3 2 stroke marine oil? thanks for the help!

first... NO!

and second... you aren't going to use the $30/gal oil. The 800 engine needs full synth... so you will be running the $50/gal oil.:cheers:

Here is some info on the oil and fuel to use;
Use High quality low ASH API TC Injector oil.
Do Not use NMMA TC-W, TC-W2 or TC-W3 outboard motor oils or other ash less type 2 cycle oil. Avoid mixing different brands of API TC oil as resulting chemical reaction will cause severe engine damage. Never mix Mineral or synthetics oil together.

Never use fuel containing more than 10 % alcohol,( Methanol or Ethanol) as severe damage will occur. The minimum of 87 octane is recommended for most engines.

Speaking from experience (I learn everything the hard way) I would use only what the manual recommends. And for sure only use fuel that is less than 10% ethanol.
That $50 a gallon oil you can find on e-bay cheaper. I just bought 3 gallons for $120.

well the previous owner was using shell oil (says tcw3) from canadian tire so i continued to use it with no issues...my rear plug is gettin full of carbon on me but that JUST started. Whats wrong with using that oil?

I'm just trying to figure out if there is a cheaper oil to use. The Seado oil is up to $49.00 and that is just plain crazy

That’s still cheaper than a new engine:cheers:

Ok… you can use any oil that is API-TC rated. Problem is… most oils in the category will be expensive. Just look at the labels, and buy a cheaper oil if you can find it. Your 800’s are suppose to use synthetic, but I believe that SeaDoo changed that to any API-TC… so you can use the new synthetic bled that your dealer is selling. If you buy a case (3 gal) you can easily ask for a discount. I think I just paid $27/gal for the new synthetic blend at my local dealer. That is the cheapest oil I have found… but if I buy a single gallon… they charge $35 each.

Do what you want… it’s your ski… and if there was truly a cheaper alternative… we would have told you. I guess the easy solution is to sell your Seadoo, and buy a Yamaha since it can use the $10/gal walmart stuff.

THNAKS for your info on the oil. I know that it's cheaper than an engine but just seeing if I have any options. The place I deal with will NOT budge on price, no matter how many gallons you buy :(.

As much as I hate to think about it, I have considered trading in my Seado on another brand. We have many friend (NONE with Seado's) with wave runners and we're the only ones that have problems. Ours usually ends up in the shop every year needing some kind of major work while our friends run the hell out of there's and never require repair. We have far less hours on ours and much easier drivers but much more down time due to repairs. So we'll see. I've spent more in repairs over the 9 years then I paid for the unit brand new.

THANKS again for the info and happy riding!

Shorts Marine has XP-S oil for $48.99 a gallon on e-bay.
They also will 12 quarts for $138.00 (3 gallons) Thats about $46 a gal.

You can wait until December or January it will be cheaper.
