I know each state has their own laws on water skiing behind PWC. In the states where an observer is required it can be difficult for the observer to balance sitting backwards with nothing to hold on to. I made this out of parts around the house. Drilled NO holes or screws into my ski. Although I haven't tested it yet it feels very firm. The pictures explain most of it..
Next post for final........

The final. The T-handle slides easily out and stores in the front storage bin. Or can slide all the way down. The T-slides between the rear seat and the seat rail and locks into place.

for an observer handle i am glad you got away from the hose clamp idea as the only means of holding it - hose clamps work great as hose clamps becasue equal pressure is applied to its circumfrance when under strain and the are built for that. as a STRAP, they are week.
hope the twist problem wont exist for you - or whomever is holding onto it...
good luck

Added on straps

I was worried about lateral movement so I added 3/4 x 3/16 aluminum straps. After 20 minutes on the buffing wheel they turned out looking great !
Then added a nylon strap for the ski rope.

I just bought a 08 Wake 215 and it has the handle in the back, now I haven't tried it out yet but I can tell you what the owners manual states. It states that that the observer must be holding on to the grips while the rope is tied to the top when your towing someone.
Anyway from your pictures my 2 cents are: I think your on to something that will work but I don't think it is as strong as the one made for the ski because of how many anchors the OEM has bolted into the ski, but I'll bet money yours works, I'd just be a little careful with someone holding on in some ruff surf (going over wakes and such). I think you and MacGyver must be related.....

thanks

Thanks for the link. But luckily it won't work on mine. I was wondering if having the ski rope so high above the center of gravity on the ski would tend to tip it if the skier cut hard outside the wake ? I know, " If your going to do that get a boat !"

paddle handle

I want to carry a paddle on my ski. The shortest telescoping paddle I could find is 22". But since I already carry a handle for the observer I would incorporate it to work for the paddle also. And it wedges into the right side of the front storage bin.

from the looks of your handle, I'll take a stab at it, that your son/daughter does not have a razor scooter anymore....:), anyway, think it looks great, and will do the job.
