Local Walmart has both, weird. Needed to pick up some oil and didn't want to wait a week to try and start the ski. Picked up the black one. Says specifically on the bottle made for seadoo.

Whelp, no fire. Turns over without plugs, tries to about once with plugs and the red battery light on the gauge comes on briefly then the multi gauge goes off. Guessing weak battery. Guess it has been off the tender for a few days, but damn should be enough to turn over the motor.....one would think. So it's on the tender again for the night. Guess that's what happens when you buy a walmart battery, dies in under a season. No I didn't buy it. It came with the ski.

To make matters worse doesn't appear my primer is pulling fuel. Hooked it up to the return line like I did my wave venture, and like the instructions say.....hmmmm. So even if it did turn over it's not likely it'd start anytime soon.

There was a thread about change in the bottle color.
In regards to the no crank w/plugs in, its definitely the battery.
I've had similar experiences and the engine needs a fully charged battery to have enough CCA to get over initial cranking when its being difficult to start.

Soooooo put in my AGM that was supposedly good and charged. Hooked it all up, and attempted to start.

This is what happened.

Hooked up the battery to the battery tender and went to look for the oil leak. Take the exhaust apart and get my hand under the motor to the oil hose down there........dry as a bone and cinched tight with clamp. Never even took that hose off. Come to find out the oil was coming from the hose from the oil injection and leaking down the hoses to the bottom of the hull. DAMMIT! Now I have to get the exhaust all back together. Much harder with everything in there. RTVed it back together, clamped it, and bolted it up. Took me ALL day. By that time the battery was charged.

Took off the FA squirted some nice premium premix in each carb throat. Motor struggled to turn over even with PERFECTLY charged battery.........THEN after several times of it firing and running for 2-3 seconds the motor started to turn over easier and easier. Each time dropped some fuel down in the carbs. THEN.................

Hooked it up to the hose and no leaks! Next is water check. Idles a little high, but that's to be expected out of the water.

always good to hear that Brappppppp!

Crazy thing was even with a FULLY charged battery it would only turn it about 2-3 times then give up. Fortunately that gas that I squirted in there got in quick for the second time trying. Then once all the fuel lines got primed she turned over super easy. This motor must be a bitch to turn over. Although the wear ring was also SUPER tight on the impeller, so it had to cut that down as well. So I guess that makes sense that it needed a ton of torque. Now it fires right up first hit. Need to figure out why the primer isn't pulling fuel even after getting it running. Should have some fuel in the return line.

After hooking it up to the hose it needed a bath to wash off all the dust and grease from my dirty hands. Tomorrow should be putting the mats down. Then just water testing it.

I managed to griswold myself. So I was putting some rubber moulding around the storage bin. Figured I'd use the 3m 4200 I had. Wellll long story short I got the bright idea to spread it with my finger. Then attempted to wipe it off with a paper towel. Which immediately turned in to plaster and got on both my hands. DAMMIT! In the vid I managed to pull a lot of it off.

You guys have been there, but put together a vid of my 7 month journey!

Im thinking you need some baby blue registration numbers to match up to the lettering on the rest of the ski....Suke the ski looks INSANELY clean. Great Job!

So as much as I hate to say it, cause I hate "carolina" blue, I think I'm heading that route for the numbers. Was just going to go plain black and my buddy freaked. Said no way I could do that to this ski, it looks too good. I thought....wellllll it's just black numbers what's the big deal? Then looked at his ski. It does make a difference. Dammit!

So now I have to find someone that can print decals with a blue to white fade with black outlines in a decent font. Gah!

LOL yeah with a resto like that you really need to cap it off with the blue numbers. Just dont think of it as Carolina blue, think it of like the Royals "Powder Blue". Im from KC and have one of these jerseys, GO ROYALS! hah

It's a k&n FA. It came with the ski. I've seen it sold quite a few places though. I did rejet.

Not much of an update. BUT been passively looking for another stock pump. Hit up one dude that was selling them on PWC today, then this one fell into my lap.

Since my prop is frozen to the shaft I snagged this one up for pretty cheap. Wear ring is toast, pump was rebuilt last summer and the bearings spin SUPER smooth. Also not sure how the ski will run with the stupid steep prop I have. So now I have a back up. Guy had bought a brand new OEM wear ring, which I was putting in here. Prop is in good shape, I wouldn't say perfect but no big dents or nicks.

Also hooked up my primer better. Was hooked to the return line which apparently gets little to no fuel. Hooked it to the reserve line this time. Couple of pumps and she fires right up.

Gave myself a little scare last night. So after hooking everything up and starting it let it run for at best 10 seconds then killed it, and turned the fuel off. Wife came outside to go walk and enjoy the weather before dinner, and I wanted to show her how easy it starts. 1-2 pumps starts for a couple seconds then dies. Forget I turned the fuel off, DOH! Didn't realize this until I pulled on the primer about 10 times. lol :banghead: Guessing I flooded the engine. So I left it and went walking. Came back 30 mins or so later and no longer touched the primer but pulled the throttle wide open to get fuel into the lines and she finally sputtered to life and smoked like a mofo. Guess that's what a ton of premix will do. Ran it for another 10 seconds or so to burn some of the excess fuel off then had enough of the smoke. Been seeing all these threads about the gear leaking and pouring oil and filling up the jugs. Thought for sure that's what was happening to me since it was quite smokey. Let it sit for a few hours then pulled the plugs. They were slightly wet but not terrible. Instead of turning over the motor to see if there was oil in the cylinders I stuck a piece of clear fuel line down in there. Both dry as a bone. :svengo: Still need to water test it, but things are looking OK to this point.

$40 which isn't too bad considering some I priced on the internet and from exotic signs to be $70+. That's just retarded for registration numbers.

Your attention to detail is amazing!!! I love the end result!!! BTW I'm in Carolina too. I ride on Lake Norman, which lake are you on?

I live 2 miles from Harris Lake, so that's the lake I go to most often. Will prolly hit up Lake Gaston this summer with a buddy of mine that has a place there. I live in the Triangle area. So Falls, Jordan, and Harris would be my local lakes.
