The lead with the two small red wires is the one that goes to the battery and the other, well you can guess where that goes.

Hmmmm ok. I'll double check everything when I get home. I don't recall 2 small red wires though. One red one with a black wire loom cover, and one red without the wire cover.

Here some pics from a 96 GSX, I am not sure it is the same but I believe it is.
The 1st red wire out of the box goes to the positive on the battery, the second red wire goes to the starter. The ground cable go directly from your battery to your starter. Its a good idea to put some dielectric grease on those connections

My red with the black convoluted tubing goes to my battery.

So does mine, or did you mean to your starter which would make sense cause it lays on the hull floor.

Nope I meant the battery, my starter wire doesn't touch the hull, it's neatly tied to the steering cable. The one going to the battery will chafe the hull.

I just checked my other skis, I believe I got it right, the first wire coming out of the black box goes to the battery which is also the wire that has the black plastic wrapped around it. That wire in turn is connected to the left post of the solenoid.

Yep.........

Got it! I'll double check my wiring tonight. Thanks folks! I think I actually guessed wrong. Which is a good thing I posted this. Yeesh! I'm batting a 1000 lately.

UGH! I had it WRONG! I thought the black covering red wire would go to the starter since it could potentially rub the bottom of the hull. I zip tied all my hoses and cables over there together so they theoretically shouldn't rub the hull. I routed my steering cable under the motor. It seemed to want to go that way. Not sure where it should have gone otherwise. Went under the right rear motor mount, then up underneath the carbs into that cable/hose organizer, and into the steering.

Not much to see, but took a pic anyway. Need to wrap up the exhaust then start hooking up the electrics.

Well at least you caught it now. Oh also something, I noticed you used a zip tie on the pto boot. You may want to put that to a S.S. hose clamp. I feel like when I redid my 787, I used a couple zip ties on it instead of clamps, and I had a lot more grease spray than I wanted. Moved to the clamp and havent had that problem, just something to think about. I dont know which way is right or wrong tho...but that was my experience

Clamp there is definitely happening. I've left the cover off back there on purpose so I don't forget. I bought an assorted bunch of clamps off ebay and in there I thought would be one big enough. Sadly none fit, so I have to go to lowes and forgot when I was there looking for a bolt.

Yup! We wont start that debate tho LOL. I premixed my 96 GSX after I rebuilt the engine on it a couple years ago, and honestly I cant say anything bad about it, EXCEPT I feel like I burn through a bunch of oil. I decided on my 97 XP I just picked up that I will stay with the oil injection and just replace the filter and oil lines. Premix is really easy, I dont know why everyone thinks it is way more of a hassle, it really only takes probably a minute more of your time to know for sure you will be having good oiling, and lets be honest, it probably isnt hurting a 17 year old engine a bit giving it a little bit more oil.

as little as I ride I'm not too concerned about burning more oil. I'll be lucky if I go through 4 tanks of gas this riding season. Although now that I have 2 ski's my wife may be more apt to go out and play with me. That's part of my reason for going premix......a 17 year old oil pump has how much life left in it? A year.....10 years, and who knows how many hours this ski or oil pump has on it. Not really a risk I want to take.

Premix is second nature to me. Grew up with a boat that was premix. Sure it was a pain filling up. When all we had to do was gas up the yammi and go( still had oil injection).

Geez, can't believe it's been almost a month since I've touched the ski. Been super busy with work and detailing a car pretty much every weekend. Finally had a few mins to work on it tonight. Everything is done motor wise. Need to hook up the electrical before I can fire it up.

Primer is on.

Everything in there

Where does this hose go? It goes out the side of the hull, but don't see anywhere on the motor it can go to. Also see no mention of it in the cooling diagram. It isn't the barb on the exhaust that goes out the rear. I guess I could put a T fitting in the hose and have it go out the side as well.....for the life of me can't remember where it was hooked up.

Is it the one that goes to the back side of the jugs?

Not according to the diagram. That one goes to the exhaust hose at the back of the ski by the battery box.

Yeah, that is where mine goes from the jugs, back to the back of the ski on the exhaust outlet.. I'm most positive that is where it goes. The one on you manifold should be a black line which goes to the pisser by the tie down ring. It's also hard to tell what diameter the tubing is.

Where on the outside of the hull? The front? If so that is your battery vent line.
Yup it's the right front side of the ski. Ahhhh battery vent line. Interesting.

Yeah I have the black line that goes to the back, just hadn't hooked it up yet.

Dammit! There's a puddle of oil in the bottom of my hull. Appears to be coming from the return line on the motor. Cleaned it up in hopes it's somehow a fluke, that and to pinpoint where it's exactly coming from. Gas tank appears to have had some oil run down the back of it, so it may be coming from the oil tank. Which would be normal to come from that grommet in the bottom. Let's hope so, I really don't want to take this thing apart just to get to that hose. It was clamped prior to dropping the motor.....sooooo dunno what's going on if that's where it's coming from.

In other news I'm off to pick up some oil and gas to fire her up!!!!
