Hey Iam looking to replace my hand grips on my 1997 seadoo XP Iam wondering on how to do it, Ive herd they are locking grips. I was gona get a pair on ebay but I also do not want to get the wrong size. Let me know if anyone knows how to do this if they just slip off that easy but I dont think they do.

Your new grips should be for an ATV. If you buy motorcycle grips, one will be bigger, and won't fit tight on your bars. (motorcycles have twist throttles)

I can't say what your grips are like now... but if they are just the stock grips... Take the cap off the end, and remove the bolt. Once that's off... the grips should slide off. Then, install your new grips with a little grip glue, and you will be done. (the grip glue acts like a lube to slide them on, then holds the grips in place once it cures)

Good luck

If the grips that you are buying are actually Sea-Doo replacement grips, they will go on the same way. Another option is ODI grips. They use lock rings and are easy to install and remove.

wondering the same thing for my 97 XP - I emailed ODI to see if the 120mm will fit and they told me they would not because of the plastic plug that is in the end on the stock grips. is adding a spacer the only way to get an aftermarket grip on the old sea-doo's?

You can use hair spray to install the grips. It will glide right on and then dry and hold like glue. Used that process while racing BMX and never had a problem!

thanks for the replies guys - but isn't there a length issue with these older style factory handlebars? i was told from ODI that there would not be enough handle bar for the end clamp of the ODI grips
