We have an 08 sea doo rxp-x and the other day we were out with some friends and their Yamahas when one of them hit me at about 10 MPH, luckily no injuries. But my ski has cracks right above and below the bumper near the front. Its only small stress fractures but the paint has chipped off. Just wanted to know how to repair the cracks and how expensive it would be

Sounds like just chipped gel cote. Search here for tips. Easy fix you can do for 50 bucks.

Ski prang

Have a close look inside the hull where it's damaged. If you can see it,more work is needed.3 types of build.Jetski.polyester.High perf.Vinylester and race is epoxy. If you can see anything inside the hull, get it fixed with the vinylester resins.Thats on the inside,Once that is done, the gelcoat in the outside can be fixed. The reason for the vinylester is that its adhesion to polyester is 20% more than polyester on the same substrate.= stronger.
If you can't see any inside damage, get a resin paint to seal the ends of the fractures and then Gelcoat.Hope this helps

thanks for the info. Its so close to the front that its covers with Styrofoam on the inside so you cant see if it cracked through. Were taking it to the local dealer to see what they say.

Mate!!!
Don't take it to the local dealer or you will be sitting at the traffic lights and you will see them towing your ski to the local fibreglass repairman.
Dealers sell boats and fix motors. Most of them know jack-sh!! about fibreglass repairs. These hulls are extremely strong and the main worry would be if the hull and deck have seperated at the gunwhale line.It is not a big job by the sounds of it.Can you post a photo of it???

Crisso...

I read your opinion that dealers know Mr. Jack-Sh when it comes to repairing fiberglass.

With all due respect to your position, you forgot to mention that dealers, although they turn wrenches, usually don't know Sh from shinola when it comes to repairing engines.

Having a look at the photos and it looks like you need some work on the crack.Any loose glass needs to be lightly ground back.It then needs a light woven cloth over it and some chopped strand over the top of that. The woven gives it directional strength and the chopped ties it all in.It is not a big job.Anyone that works in the fibreglass ind. would be able to do the job.I would try to find a boat builder 1st.Any mould makers could do it.Just don't do the dealer thing.Any outside repairs on the gelcoat are quite easy.Just make sure the deck and hull have not seperated. You need to look under the gunwhale rubber.Hope this helps
